Star Wars: The Old Republic has been on Star Wars fans and MMO fans radar for quite some time now. Well we finally have a release date for one of this years most anticipated games. BioWare has given the U.S. a release date of December 20, 2011. The release date in Europe will be on December 22, 2011. This is a weird release date for any game coming out in the holiday season seeing as Christmas is only five days after the release. Typically games get released weeks before Christmas in hopes that people will spend their holiday money on their game. This is still exciting news for fans that have been eagerly awaiting this information.
The release date was announced at the 2011 Eurogamer Expo in London, England. BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk announced this at their keynote address at the expo and thanked the millions of fans for their support and patience.
Star Wars: The Old Republic will be available for $60 if you want the original version with no extras. The collector’s Edition will run for $150 and include a whole bunch of extras for the hardcore fan. Some of these include a figurine, game soundtrack, digital items, collectors case for your discs and much more. More details are on the official web page.
When you buy an MMO game, you need to factor in subscription prices as well. For one month of access its going to run you $14.99, which is standard for any good MMO. They also have monthly bundle plans as well, 3 month subscription is $13.99 a month and $12.99 per month when you buy 6 months. If you pre-order the game you will also be eligible for an early access game code so you can start playing the game before it is released. This will most likely be a download you get in an email.
This game has had almost every PC gamer that is into MMO's excited because this is their chance to break away from World of Warcraft and be able to jump into a new MMO with a great story and voiced characters. Recent MMO's don't have the gripping story telling and atmosphere this game is going to deliver. SWTOR is a new approach on the traditional MMO game. BioWare is taking their talents as great story tellers, aka the Mass Effect series and fitting it into an amazing Star Wars MMO. I’m excited for this release and I will be keeping up with all news related.
