The Herbalism Guide to Gold Farming
In World of Warcraft, there are never ending possibilities for Gold Farming. However, there are a few methods which people will continue to practice regardless of patches and expansions. These methods will always include the three gathering professions, but specifically herbalism stand above the rest for a number of reasons. Herbalism can be very difficult to level and profit from because of the multitude of different types of herbs, and the random spawn points makes farming herbs unpredictable.
Gold Farming With Herbalism Tip #1: What Herbs to Farm For:
Many World of Warcraft Gold Guides will discuss the same strategies for gold farming with Herbalism. Most of them are useful as well, but this means that other players are using the same strategies, and that makes farming much more difficult due to higher competition. This makes the higher level herbs much more scarce, and hard to come across. Conversely, lower level herbs are very common, and thus not very valuable. So what does that leave? Well, generally, mid level herbs are very valuable and profitable. Many herbs that you would find in level 40-60 zones are actually more valuable than high level herbs. This is because so many players are power leveling alchemy, or inscription. While leveling, they don’t want to search all over for profession materials. That’s where farmers like you come in handy. Those mid level herbs like Mageroyal, Dream Foil, Ghost Mushrooms, and others will all make you a good profit since you can find a large number of them, and sell them for a high price. However, make sure you check your server’s economy, as anything can vary from server to server.
Gold Farming with Herbalism Tip #2: Where No Man Goes Anymore
Another good place to search is high level zones of past expansions. So many players are leveling right past areas like Netherstorm, Shadowmoon Valley, Sholazar Basin, Icecrown, and Storm Peaks. Since the minimum levels for expansion zones are 58, 68, and 78, many players don’t even explore the entire continent anymore, and these zones just get passed by. You may find 5-10 players, max. That means this is a very low competition area for herbs that are much less common on the auction house.
Gold Farming With Herbalism Tip #3: No Competition in Instances
If you are a high enough level, or are able to stealth, many instances like the Underbog or Slave Pens have an abundance of herbs. If you happen to be level 85, then you can probably clear the entire instance in the time it would take you to farm herbs. Almost every class now has AoE abilities, so you should be able to farm instances, no matter what the class. In addition, many of the mobs in these instances may be “skinned” by herbalists for elemental items or extra herbs.
Gold Farming With Herbalism Tip #4: Add-ons
Now, if you prefer open world farming, there are WoW add-ons that you can download to help your farming process. Gatherer is a very popular add-on, and when combined with Routes, you can have a very efficient and optimal herb farming path. Another program called Tycoon has that function, but is much more than a farming add-on. It also comes with an Auction House Addon to tell you what herbs are the most profitable at any given time. This takes out all the time of researching your server's economy to determine what is best to farm.
