The Rogue class are the true mercenaries of World of Warcraft with brutal attacks that decapitate their foes and the ability to disappear into the shadows again as if no-one were ever there!
The Rogues primary class role in World of Warcraft is melee damage dealer and that's exactly what they do. Rogues were designed for one thing and that was obliterate their foes with both brutal force and cunning stealth tactics that allow for Rogues to sneak up on their opponents and apply a deadly combo to overcome them without even being noticed.
The Rogue class has a nice range of weaponry they can equip there-selves with including; bows, crossbows, daggers, fist weapons, one-handed axes, one-handed maces, one-handed swords. One slight disadvantage to the Rogue is that they can only equip there-selves with cloth and leather and often engage in close quarter combat. That's why a Rogue truly is built around stealth tactics and damage dealing.
Another nice ability that Rogues possess is the ability to equip their weaponry and ammo with deadly toxins that have nasty side effects that they can inflict their opponents with and deal catastrophic blows to finish their opponents.
The key to a successful combat with the Rogue really is to initiate combat and take the enemy unsuspectingly, by the time they realize their under attack it's already to late!
The three available talent trees for the Rogue class are the Assassination, Combat and Subtlety talent trees. The Assassination tree focuses on the Rogues finishing strikes and ability to conjure up deadly poisons to use in battle and generally focuses on the Rogues damage output.
The Combat talent tree will focus on both the Rogues damage output and survivability making for a nice leveling build when combined with a slight Subtlety hybrid build.
The Subtlety talent tree is considered the best talent tree for specs for both leveling and PvP scenarios. The Subtlety tree focuses on the Rogues damage and stealth making for a formidable build for battling scenarios.
The Subtlety/ Assassination Rogue leveling build offers the best spec for an all round nice build for both leveling and PvP scenarios. If following the Subtlety/ Assassination build I would opt to not the train the Honor Among Thieves, Enveloping Shadows, Serrated Blades and Cheat Death abilities from the Subtlety talent tree and instead train the Coup De Grace, Lethality, Deadly Momentum and Quickening abilities from the Assassination tree.
All in all the Rogue class are fairly versatile, although are solely designed as damage dealers and should be played as such. The Rogues make for great PvP classes and are also great fun just questing solo throughout Azeroth. A well built Rogue though can prove to be a formidable opponent to any player once later levels are reached and one starts exploring PvP realms.
