Crafting for items in swtor is important if you want to find valuable resources that the universe has to offer. The premise behind crafting is outsourcing your work to your companion (s). While your away your companion crafts items, finds resources and other tangible values for you. The best part is that it barely interferes with your mission. Personally, I think that forming a guild and crafting are two of the most important aspects.

Overview of Crafting

Crafting is associated with crew skills. Learning the basics of crew skills makes crafting much easier. How you specialize is how your crew will act upon certain tasks such as making armor, weapons, or implants. You have total control of what to do with these items after you acquire them. You can use them for the benefit of your mission or you can sell them on market. You receive crew reports anywhere you are. With these reports you can do plan on what to do next. For example if one of your crew finds a schematic, you can have your other crew craft the item right then.

Types of Crafting Skills

There are 6 types of crafting skills

Armormech- Allows you to make personal armor with hard metals and electronic shields.

Armstech- Creating weaponry and weaponry upgrades

Synth Weaving- Allows you to create lighter clothes and armor. Each item has a powerful quality to them.

Bio-Chem- Specializes in bio engineering. Allows for the creation of performance-enhancing serums and implants.

Artifice- The work of constructing sith/jedi historical artifacts

Cybertech- The technical side of constructing gadgets and key parts for tech armor and droids

Mission Skills

Mission skills are used to send companions of your crew on missions for the purpose of crafting. These mission skills include:

Diplomacy-Conducting and managing negotiations.

Investigation-identifying and examining evidence.

Treasure Hunting-Tracking down and recovering items through the use of investigation.

Underworld Trading-trading illegal services and goods.

How To Craft

Open your crafting skill window by pressing the N key on your keyboard. Select a crafting skill. It will show up on the top of the window along with a skill a button on the left and a skill progress bar from 0 to 400 on the right.

Open your crafting window by clicking the button. This will bring up your recipe's window. From here you can pick who you want to craft and assign him a mission.

Note: You will the need the specified materials to complete each objective. If you have them you are good to go.

Additional notes: each companion can have up to 5 ques for crafting. The number of companion that you can send out on missions or craft for you depends on your level. Be sure to level up.

If you can master crafting then you will be able to get more done in half the time.
