This was a question that I was asking myself and researching recently. There are so many options out there for the consumer now that it can be hard to choose. Gaming laptops or notebooks have exploded in the past couple of years. They are getting more and more popular every year because companies are making better quality products and delivering more power graphically. I am going to list my top 3 best gaming laptops that are in my opinion the most powerful on the market. I will remind you that any product I review may be out of date in terms of a newer model being out. I will do my best to update this article when I see new models out.
I’m going to be giving you a list that is based on actual or estimated performance, taking into consideration the graphics card and hardware performance compared to the laptops size.
The most powerful laptop that I had found was the Eon 17 from Origin PC. But with all that power comes great size and battery drainage. This laptop is very big and comes with a 17 inch screen. This laptop is based on the Clevo X7200 and uses desktop processors. You can deck it out with a hexa-core (12 threads) desktop Core i7 extreme edition and up to 24 GB of triple-channel DDR3 RAM. On the graphics side you can configure your machine with dual Radeon HD 6990M’s in CrossFireX or Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 M GPUs in SLI. This laptop has the most powerful mobile GPU solutions on the market, but the down side is that the battery will only last for about an hour. It also has room for three hard drives or SSDs in RAID 0, 1 or 5. This machine is very expensive, but your money will be well spent.
Next on my list is the Alienware M18x. It is now available with dual Nvidia GTX 580M graphics cards in SLI or dual AMD Radeon HD 6990M GPUs in CrossfireX. This is one of my favorites by far because you get a beautiful machine that blows a lot of gaming laptops out of the water for an exceptional price. Either one of the graphical options I’ve mentioned before will run at the 18-inch displays native 1080p resolution with the games graphics maxed out. It can also be equipped with other GPUs in CrossFireX/SLI or a single video card. The best CPU you can get put in is a 2nd generation, quad core Intel Core i7 CPU, the extreme edition is factory overclocked that runs at 4GHz in Turbo Boost mode. More features include the Alien FX back-lighting that this computer is known so well for. Also included is 1600Mhz DDR3 memory, USB 3.0 and an optional WirelessHD that lets you stream wireless Full HD video and Audio to an HDTV. Ive personally owned one of these and they are very nice looking and run amazingly. They only flaw is that you have to deal with Dells horrible customer service. If you want more info on my experience with Dell comment and I will tell you my experience.
Last on my list is the Asus G74Sx. This high quality laptop is fairly cool and quiet, the laptop is not as beefy and big as other 17 inch laptops usually are. It is fairly inexpensive compared to other laptops with the same capabilities out there. The new Nvidia GTX 560M GPU has better clock speeds and much better power management compared to the GTX 460M that it replaces. Asus has gone all out with this laptop and included a 3D edition called the G74Sx-3DE, which comes with the Nvidia 3D vision kit and the 120Hz screen is also compatable. Both non-3D and 3D versions have 1920x1080 resolution screens.
The three laptops that I mentioned are on the top of my list after doing all the research online and comparing products. I hope that this helps any person that was in the same situation I was in when I was clueless on what was the best laptop.
