Looking back on the year of 2005, I was reminded of some of my favorite video games of the year. I reviewed quite a few games this year for many regional newspapers. I’m going to share some of those games that stood out for the gaming year, 2005.
The Street Fighter Anniversary Collection was released earlier this year for the Playstation 2. This game is an amalagated version of all of the Street Fighter II revisions which is called Hyper Street Fighter and Street Fighter III: Third Strike.
The games offer an incredible amount of solid fighting action. Dreamcast owners hae likely played these games before, but on the current machines, (Now including the Xbox) it offers an engaging trip down memory lane. There are five versions of Street Fighter II. Hyper Street Fighter II lets you choose your favorite version of a character to play.
The downside is that the graphics show their age, and the TV resolution is quite dull, but it is still a solid and accurate package. On the PS2, there is a lack of online gameplay. The controls are pretty good, but an arcade stick would control alot better. Not a bad game for $30.
I give the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection a 3 out of 5.
