Far to the west, on an island long isolated from the remainder of RuneScape, great creatures vie for control of a powerful obelisk but without any clear victor. Recently, a curious man on an unusual pilgrimage found the island &, for his own obscure purposes, has opened the field of battle to any who require pitting their mettle against the smaller creatures of the island, other adventurers, or even the mighty avatars themselves. Soul Wars (abbreviated as SW) is a members-only minigame that was released on ten February 2009. The way in portal to the minigame is located in the south-west area of Edgeville. Similar to Castle Wars & Stealing Creation, it is a team-based minigame that lasts0 minutes per game & can be played on any world. In Soul Wars, opposing teams compete against each other to collect Soul Fragments & offer them to the Soul Obelisk in order to weaken, & ultimately defeat, each others’ Avatars, using a combination of combat & Slayer skills. This is a “safe” minigame; in case you die, you will keep all of your items, even in case you are skulled. Players will respawn in a cemetery that is controlled by their team, & can rejoin the game after 15 seconds. Life points, Prayer points, Summoning points, special assault energy, & run energy are restored when a player dies & at the finish of each game.
To get to Soul Wars, must enter the Soul Wars portal in Edgeville. It is located south-west of the bank, & west of the abandoned mausoleum. After going through the portal, the player will arrive at Nomad’s camp, where players can exchange Zeal points for rewards, learn how to play Soul Wars, or join of teams to play Soul Wars.
The aim of Soul Wars is to defeat the opposing team’s avatar more times than they defeat yours in twenty minutes. The avatars start each battle with a Slayer requirement of 100, making them impervious to all assaults. (Note that Slayer capes, Wild pies, & Slayer’s Respites cannot be brought to the battlefield.)In order to reduce their Slayer requirement, players will must kill some of the smaller Slayer creatures to collect Soul Fragments & offer them to the Soul Obelisk, which can only be done if the team controls it by having more people there.
