Best Tactics For Using The Protoss Phoenix Unit

Here is a quick and nice guide to using Starcraft 2 Phoenix tactics to your advantage to get great millage out of your Phoenixes in order to help win battles. The phoenix is an unique air unit in the game of Starcraft 2 due to its ability to pickup ground units as well as fire on the move.

This aircraft is amazing because it serves as a really good scout or as a patrol unit of the Protoss, and as a great resource in the army that you control. They can be maneuvered very well in air to air combat and therefore, are used very commonly for those purposes. The projectiles they use are great for bringing down enemy air units. That is why you should not neglect them when playing the game.

You can use the phoenix to take on a number of different enemy units. But, you will find some that are mostly susceptible to this aircraft. The Banshees, Void Rays, Vikings, and Mutalisks are good examples. Your aircraft can be used to combat these enemies very easily, and if you form a really good group, you can send them out to patrol your skies so that you are sure that you own the map's airspace.

You should also keep in mind that although the aircraft is strong against many of the enemy forces, it also has some weaknesses to some. It is advised that you should stay as far away possible from heavy units that are strongly armored like Carriers, Corruptors, and Battle cruisers. These units are bad news for your air units. Therefore, it is best that you send out some other type of anti-air unit to handle them without wasting your time and resources that were put in building your Phoenixes.

You will need to build a Stargate first in order to start producing your phoenixes. It will be good to have a Cybernetics Core and adequate numbers of pylons also. You should keep the production of these units continuous if you wish to conduct air harassment against your enemy.

You will need a good supply of Vespene Gas. If harassing with the Phoenix you should start to build your Stargate the moment you have completed your Cybernetics core. You will need the full 3 workers to mine each Vespene gas geyser to get the process going continuously.

It is wise to use your phoenixes to target areas where your enemy does not have heavy anti air. They should also be used for picking up and attacking workers. Striking with a combination of Phoenixes and other units, you are able to do massive damage to your enemies while picking up and disabling particularly troublesome units. You will also need to conduct your micromanagement correctly in order to keep your injured Phoenixes alive.
