Starcraft 2 Mutalisk Tactics Information

The Zerg Mutalisk is a versatile air unit that requires correct micro and control in order to perform at its best. For this reason, we have provided some Starcraft 2 Mutalisk tactics for you to learn about.

As many of you probably know, this is a Zerg flying unit. It is powerful and it has a robust 120 hit points. The beautiful thing is it's attack which can hit air units as well as ground. It is thus one of the few air units in the game that can target both ground and air units.

The following rush strategy was first developed to encourage gamers to to produce Mutalisks as quickly and efficiently as possible so you have the ability to take out your enemy before they have even had the chance to gain significant anti-air units.

The main thing about this strategy is that you need to use these units in order to har[censored] your opponent as early as possible to establish a better position in the mid game. Sometimes you may need to hold off enemy rushes as well while you are teching up to Mutalisks.

For you to really take control of the situation and the game as a Zerg player using Mutalisks, you should remember another thing. Mutas deal light splash damage. Its projectile bounces twice to strike multiple targets, dealing less damage after each bounce. What this means is that alone they are average, but in a pack they are a deadly force. They are more effective the more that you have.

Another thing to keep in mind is that these units are very weak when attacking buildings unless the buildings are clumped up, so it may be better to har[censored] enemy workers which tend to work closely together. You want to make sure when you are fighting and planning maneuvers involving Mutas that you have enough to do the job and do it efficiently.

Mutalisks suffer when engaging enemy anti air units head on unless the Mutas are in very large numbers. They can be used in army versus army engagements however provided that they are supporting ground units. The priority of upgrades for these units depends on how you wish to use them. When used for harassment for example you should go for more attack upgrades so the Mutas can do more damage before enemy units arrive to ward them away.

As you can see, there are plenty of Starcraft 2 Mutalisk tactics out there. What is needed is a great deal of practice and patience. You should also scout out your opponent before considering Mutalisks as certain openings and units can all but shut down Mutalisk play.
