Good news for all the WoW players! As we reported previously in March, Blizzard announced a new WoW currency, WoW tokens will be lauched on Apirl 7th. Now it is the time. The new WoW item offers World of Warcraft players a fresh method to pay their monthly subscription fees. Tokens mirror EVE Online’s PLEX system, allowing players to trade gold at the auction house for trinkets worth one month of game time. We are offering you the various categories of WoW items at discount prices!
The flip side is that players can purchase the tokens for $20 and sell them, essentially providing a safe, gold farmer-free way of purchasing in-game gold with real money. The tokens went live yesterday.
This week, Blizzard is giving World of Warcraft players the option to play its massively multiplayer online game without the need to pay for a monthly subscription, when it introduces the recently announced WoW Token. The new item, which can be exchanged for game time or sold for in-game gold, is set to go live in the in-game shop on Tuesday, April 7.
WoW Tokens were announced in March as a way for players to get game time without the need for a monthly subscription. Players can buy tokens and exchange them with other players for gold or 30-day chunks of game time. Blizzard says the new payment option offers a way for players to "simply and securely exchange WoW gold and game time with each other," and to use their in-game gold to pay for WoW game time. “The WoW Token is a new in-game item that allows players to simply and securely exchange gold and game time between each other.
Players will be able to purchase a WoW Token through the in-game Shop for real money, and then sell it on the Auction House for gold at the current market price. When a player buys a WoW Token from the Auction House for gold, the Token becomes Soulbound, and the player can then redeem it for 30 days of game time.”
The WoW Token will be available for sale starting tomorrow (at approximately 10 a.m. PT) in North America, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand through the in-game store. Blizzard will sell tokens for $20 U.S./$25 Australian each. Blizzard is also setting the starting price of a WoW Token at 30,000 gold in World of Warcraft's auction house, but says supply and demand will dictate pricing post-launch. Blizzard says it's limiting the number of tokens players can purchase to 10 within a 30-day period. Initially Blizzard has decided to limit WoW Token purchases to 10 per 30 days. It seems unlikely someone would want to spend more than $200 or 300,000 gold a month purchasing them, but stranger things have happened.
Blizzard believes WoW Tokens are a great solution for allowing players to securely swap game time and gold, and in the process they make a healthy profit. Depending on how bug free the system turns out to be, expect other regions of the world to get WoW Tokens rolled out pretty quickly. Don't miss the wow mounts for sale
