One of the more difficult boss fights in Darksiders 2: comes in the form of Argul, a uniquely gigantic monster in the Lair of the Deposed King. Also part of the Forge of the Lands Side Quest. This Darksiders 2: Argul Boss Fight Guide will teach you the abilities he has, as well as some tips and tricks on how to defeat him. I defeated this guy at level 16 and it was pretty tough but I’d imagine a lower level could do it with the right equipment.
Stage 1
This guy is a total pain in the ass, right from the get go. During stage 1, Argul will use 2 main attacks. He will smash the ground with his mace, or dig his shield into the floor and charge. The charge ability is useless as it’s easy to dodge but his mace attack is lethal, I mean enough to kill a decked out level 16 in one hit. He will slam his mace into the ground 1-2 times, which freezes you if it makes contact. Prompting an action button mashing in order to escape, however, damage continues after you’ve escaped due to a DoT (damage over time) effect. Use the 2 dodge technique, don’t do the flip as you’ll leave yourself exposed, and then simply dodge like crazy until he gets his mace stuck in the floor.
Stage 2
Once you take him down to about 50% health, he’ll add another attack to his arsenal. A lunging spinning attack. I didn’t really have much success blocking this but staying well at range after you’ve done damage, followed by a backflip would seem to be the best course of action. Once you’ve managed to get the hang of dodging his mace, it’s pretty easy. If you’re constantly dying before getting him down to 70% HP, consider coming back after you’ve grown a bit stronger.
