We’ll be running down all of the Operators from all of the different groups available in Rainbow 6 Siege, so be sure to study up on what each one has to offer. Only one player can use an operative per game, so you may not always get your first pick. It’s best if you are comfortable with all of them.
Sledge is a physical powerhouse, and he usually prefers to be the point man on operations. His breaching hammer, nicknamed The Caber, can knock down nearly any barricade that stands in his way, creating new paths for his fellow operators to use to complete the mission. Sledge has medium speed and medium armor, making him a good choice for the player that likes balance in their game.
Like Sledge, Thatcher has good armor and good speed, but neither category will really stand out. He’s a balanced operator, and one that works best if you are up against an enemy that is determined to use electronic traps to slow your progress. Thatcher’s EMP Grenade will instantly disable all enemy electronics within range when it’s thrown. Players can also choose between a Stun Grenade and Breaching Charge, with the former giving you the ability to incapacitate enemies hiding near the objective.
The SAS group is developing a name for itself as operators with middle of the road armor and speed, but they are making up for it with very cool special gadgets. Mute follows this same path, giving players MONI, a signal disrupter that can be used to protect against Breach Charges, as well as Drones that are deployed at the beginning for the round. In fact, that might be one of the best uses for MONI, preventing the Attackers from locating the objective.
Smoke has the same armor and speed rating as all other SAS Operators, but he too has a special gadget that will impress players. Compound Z8 is a gas grenade that can be thrown, and then remote detonated when the time is right. If you’ve been on the receiving end of this, you know how effective it is. Try tossing it outside the objective room that you’re defending, forcing the attackers to either rush forward when they are unprepared, or back off and let precious seconds tick off the clock.
