Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword Walkthrough Part 8 – Faron Woods
Welcome to a new area. Follow Fi's suggestion and use your drowsing ability to get a bearing on Zelda's location.Head toward the Statue, save then continue right, toward the gap with the rope hanging in it. Swing on it and jump from it to cross the gap. Continue forward. Feel free to hack down the glowing tree to get some more rupees.
Just past this clearing and the next barrier of trees you will find more Bokoblins pestering another innocent … thing. Kill the Bokoblins then talk with what they were harassing. It reveals itself to be something like a Kiwi. Fi appears just after it runs off and explains it is a Kikwi. She explains that they are peaceful and that it had an unusual response as you were drowsing for Zelda yet it showed up. Head for the slope it just went up. You must dash up it.
Keep going upwards and head for the ledge to meet the Kikwi again. It once again runs off so follow it. Head to the right to find another Purple Bird Statue. Examine it at least so you have the marker. Keep to the dirt path so you can explore and follow the Kikwi. Drowse after you save to find it hiding in a mushroom. It will take off to another hiding spot. Again, follow the dirt path and drowse periodically to find it again hiding in a large red mushroom just a little farther down the path. Now it will be hiding behind a tree only a short ways along. This time you can talk with it a little, it introduces itself as Machi. It explains that a strange creature like you passed through recently chased by the red monsters. It escaped with the Kikwi Elder. With this knowledge, take a moment to head just below the Kikwi to push the log behind it down. Where it was you will find an Amber Relic, an item used to upgrade your items and shields.
Time for some more drowsing. You need to dash up the slope behind you to the left. Be careful as there is a Deku Baba on this slope. Once you are at the top of the slope you can get some revenge on the Deku by picking up and throwing one of the boulders at it. Continue along the path to find another Amber Relic hidden under another log you can roll along the right-hand side of the path. You will also deal with a small number of Octorocks (that can easily be confused with a common variety of Deku). You can defeat these using the shield bash to throw the rocks they spit back at them. Be wary as their attacks can easily destroy your shield. If you are having a lot of trouble, return to the Skyloft Bazaar and upgrade from a Wooden Shield to a Banded Shield.
Continue along the path and head to the left when you find a down slope. At the bottom is a ledge with a rope tied to it. Slash the plant it is anchored to so you can use it to swing across the gap. Just on the other side you will find the Elder Kikwi. It introduces itself as Bucha. He explains that he might have met Zelda but his distress over the missing Kikwi of his tribe is disturbing his ability to remember. Fi will add the ability to drowse for Kikwis to your Drowsing menu. Set it up and it is time to hunt for a trio of Kikwi. There is no specific order to finding the Kikwi so drowse and wander around to collect all three.
