Skyrim Walkthrough: Companions Quests - The Silver Hand

After you are done with this walkthrough, you will be able to transform to a Werewolf at will. But you have to do a couple of quests before this. After completing the quest "Proving Honor" and being welcome into the elite "Companions Circle" and after doing another small task for one of the Companions leader, talk to Skjor. He will tell you he has a special mission for you. But it is too dangerous to talk about it in the halls of Jorrvaskr. He wants you to meet him in the Underforge. If you ask him where that is, he will tell you it is under the Skyforge and that he will show you the secret door.

Open your quest journal:

Skjor and Aela say thay have some sort of special assignment for me. I'm supposed to meet them underneath the Skyforge tonight.

Objectives
Meet with Skjor at night.

Wait until it is dark (After 6 pm) . Exit to the courtyard where you first trained with Vilkas. Skjor will be standing there, he will ask you if you are prepared. Ask him what is this place. He will tell you Jorrvaskr is the oldest building in Whiterun, and the Skyforge was there even longer before. And the Underforge taps on ancient magic that is older then both man and elves. They bring you here to make you stronger. If you told him you are ready for whatever test is next, he would refer to you as new blood and tell you this is no test, this is a gift. He tells you to come inside. Follow him inside to the secret entrance in the Underforge.

Aela is already inside, as a Werewolf!. Skjor tells you that Kodlak does not know what you are about to do. They are keeping it a secret from him since Kodlak thinks it's a curse but Alea and Skjor see turning into werewolf as a blessing. To reach the hieght of the Companions, you must join with them in the shared blood of the wolf. He will ask you if you are prepared to join your spirit with the beast world. If you ask them what if you don't want to be a werewolf, they will tell you it is your choice, but to be in the circle your blood must be shared with theirs.

Tell them you are ready. Your objective now is to participate in the Blood Ritual.  Use the pedestal in front of you. Everything turns black. When you regain consciousness, you are a werewolf! It will say "Beast Form Added". Don't try to bring up the character menu, since character menus are not available to werewolves. You have no weapons, but powerful claw attacks. Go back into the Underforge. The Screen goes black again. You wake up in some snowy outdoor area.

Aela is there. She tells you that your transformation wasn't an easy one, but you are alive. They even have a celebration for you. There is a pack of werewolf hunters , the Silver Hands, in Gallows Rock, and you are going to slaughter them. Skjor is already scouting ahead.

Ask here what just happened, she will tell you that you were born into the pack. Ask her what it means to be a werewolf. She says nothing, until you decide to use it. Then you become faster, stronger. The blood of the foes can sustain you if you are willing to feed on it.

When you ask her about a cure,  she will tell you being a werewolf is not a curse or a disease that needs to be cured, it's a blessing.

If you ask here if you are a Werewolf now she says that you have the blood of the wolf in you, but you will have to build up your strength before you can call on it again. She warns you to be careful since some cowards in this land can't stand the sight of glory.

Ask her where you are going. She will tell you the Silver Hand has taken over the old fort at Gallows Rock. They always make easy prey.

Check your quest log:
"I have ascended to the Circle which leads the Companions, and now share their blood as a werewolf. To celebrate my new status, Skjor and Aela have invited me to attack a Silver Hand Camp nearby

Objetive: Kill the Werewolf Hunters. Put on your armor and weapons back. Go west towards Gallows Rock. Kill the enemies at the entrance to the fort and enter. Aela will observed the spear bars and say that the cowards must have locked this place down out of fear after Skjor charged in. Activate the Pull Chain to lift open the spear door.

Reach a chamber with a camprfire where 2 silverhands are standing. Kill them, loot the chest in the middle. To the east, in a small room, a werewolf is dead after being tortured. Aela smells the werewolf in the torture room and says that judging by the smell it is not anyone they know. Could have been anybody.

Open the wooden door to the south, and reach a room with many prison cells. Defeat the Silver Hands guarding it. Some of the cells are empty, some have a dead werewolf in them, there is even a cell with a live one. You can release him, but be careful as the werewolf might attack you.

Continue down the stairs to the west and open the wooden door to the north. Neutralize the enemies, climb up the stairs, and exit to the west. Turn north. Pick the adept door if you want some treasure and potions. Then turn west. Aela will tell you that they are getting closer and will warn you about their leader, nicknamed "The Skinner". Keep working your way to the west and reach another big room with more Silver Hands, including Krev the Skinner! This is a boss fight and is quite challenging. I would recommend killing his archers quickly first, then focusing on Krev.

After you defeat him, talk to Aela. She has found the body of Skjor. Somehow they managed to kill him. He was one of the strongest they had, but sometimes numbers can overwhelm. he shouldn't have come here without a shield brother. She tells you to get out of here and she will take care of whoever is left. 

"I have ascended to the Circlw which leads the Companions, and now share their blood as a werewolf. Aela led me to a Silver Hand stronghold where Skjor fell in battle. She has enlisted me on her quest for revenge."

Aela is starting to plan the revenge. Ask her what the first target is.  She will then give you a mission, which could be random. For example, for She can tell you that the Silver Hands are after the fragments of Wuuthrad and that she knows of the location of one. This would start the quest "Retrieval" to retrieve the fragment. Or she could send you to a Silver Hand camp to steal secret plans, which unlocks the quest "Stealing Plans". Or she could just send you to assassinate a Silver Hand leader in the quest "Striking the Heart". You will have to do two of those quests for her, before unlocking the next main companions quest, which is "Blood's Honor"

Loot what you want from the room and the big chest, and take the door to the east for a shortcut that will lead you out of Gallows Rock.

Congratulations, you can now transform into a Werewolf at will. Just bring up the Magic menu, then go to powers, and locate "Beast Form". Equip and use it to become a Werewolf.
