Armored Core 5 Walkthrough Part 10: Order 8

In this order mission, you will be going up against a new type of AC being deployed by the former city police faction. These ACs, called Defense ACs, will be equipped with shields on their arms to block frontal attacks. This will make attacking from the front a losing proposition, so keep in mind that you should try to attack from the sides or from behind while playing through this mission. As usual, you will be able to bring a hired mercenary with you into battle. This actually isn’t a bad option in this mission, although you can still complete it by yourself easily enough. It does help to have another AC on your side to distract the enemies so that they will reveal their backs to you, but it’s certainly not necessary.

The former city police have deployed Defense ACs to the desert town that you stole back earlier in order to reclaim it. You will be battling through the hilly streets on the outskirts of the desert in an attempt to win back the city. Your mission here is simple: Kill all of the enemies. When you begin this Order, boost around the corner ahead of you to arrive at the top of a desert hill. You will be able to see the first Defense AC from your perch on the hill. If you have a Sniper Rifle, you can take careful aim at the AC below to score an easy first kill. Just be sure to do it quickly, as the AC will be alerted to your presence sooner rather than later. If you can’t sniper it, charge in and flank around its left side, using boost to strafe around it. Shotgun spread may go around the shield, as might sword swipes, so keep this in mind as you battle.

A second Defense AC will come rolling down the street in front of you, while a third will be hiding around the large silos to the right side of the road. While it may seem like a good idea to retreat behind the silos for cover in the face of these two enemies, don’t do it. They are explosive and will heavily damage your AC when detonated by enemy fire. Instead, shoot the silos yourself to take out the AC to the right and kill the second easily. It has no shield and should be an easy kill.

Head down to the end of the road, in front of the piping area, and follow the left branch of the road. The right path only leads back to the level’s start. There will be two more Defense ACs down this road. Again, avoid the silos by the side of the road. Try to flank around behind the enemies. If necessary, jump up high and hover over them to rain fire down on top of them. Also note that their shields are not invincible. With enough damage from something like a Shotgun up close, the shields will eventually be destroyed. This is not the ideal way to kill these enemies, though.
