Dragon Age Origins Walkthrough Part 20 – The Urn of Sacred Ashes, Part 1

Head for Denerim after everything that can be is resolved at Redcliffe and the Camp.

Likely, if you have been following this guide, en route to Denerim you will have another cutscene. After it, the party will be on the road. Head forward to trigger a cutscene with a panicked woman. Follow her South to trigger a big fight. You have 9 opponents, including a potential Party member. Defeat all of them and at the end of it you will have the option to either kill him or tie him up and talk with him. If you want Zevran, then tie him up and talk with him. Be sure to take some time to loot everything afterwards. You will get a small sidequest through it, “Friends of Red Jenny” in Denerim. After that, head on back to the World Map.

Denerim
You arrive in the Market District. Head for the Southeastern portion. There, across from the Gnawed Noble, you will find the Brother's House. Head inside. First, before you talk with his assistant, explore. On the left-hand side of the table you will find a book. This gives the codex entry, “History of the Chantry: Chapter 3”. Now either talk with Weylon or approach the closed door in the back of the room. If you talk with Weylon he will send you over to Lake Calenhad. There you will encounter a number of Cultists rather determined to kill you. After that, return to Denerrim and confront Weylon. Eventually it will be made clear this Weylon is a plant and he will attack the party. He is a mage so expect to take some damage. Kill him and loot his body. Now go through the closed door.

On the floor, near the desk, you will find a book. Examine it for the codex entry, “Chantry Hierarchy”. Continue over to the chest to the right to collect some goodies and Genitivi's Research. Continue to the right to find the corpse of the real Weylon. Head on out and onto the world map, it is time to make for Haven to the West.

Village of Haven
Head on up the slope to the village itself. As you approach the top, the party will be stopped by a guard. Talk with him to learn about Haven. When you excuse yourself he will tell you that you can trade at the shop but that is it. You can find a child who you can talk to. With some good persuasion you can get him to show you a finger bonbe that he found over by the mountain. You can also head to the Hosue ot the west of the guard and look around the post outside it to find a book. This give the codex entry, “Death of a Templar”. Head into the Villager House and open up the chest to the left of the door. Inside you will find one of the Love Letters needed for an extended side quest. Turn and open the other chest to get some more loot. Immediately leave the house and do not explore further as it will turn the village against you.

With everything sorted below, head North. Bear to the West at the top to find a book outside the house which gives the codex entry, “The Avvars”. Now tuin back to the North. The store is directly up the slope. Just inside, to the left, you can find a chest with some loot inside it which contains 2 gifts. Now turn to the right and talk with the Merchant there. He has some goods for

Things will be tense at best around the town. This will go from there to worse if you do one of two things:
1) In the Village Store: Investigate the Backroom, finding the altar there
2) In the Villager House: Go beyond the 2 chests

Doing either of these things will have the villagers go hostile on you. Avoid either and you can get up to the Chantry to no ill effect. Still, go in there and talk with Eirik and you will ultimately trigger a fight with him and a few of his guards. Afterward, head to the West first to find some chests to loot. Now go to the East and investigate the wall nearby the Dog Tapestry. A brick wall can be selected. Open it up to reveal another room.

Head inside here. On the floor, laying on a rug, is Brother Genitivi. Talk with him to learn what you need to do to find the Urn of Sacred Ashes. Talk with him and do what you can for him. If you did not trigger the villager's fury, it will come out at this point, but can be skipped if you simply head for the Temple. You can either send Genitivi to Denerim to heal up or have him come with. He offers some handy insight but it is your choice.
