Ghost Recon Future Soldier Walkthrough Part 14: Silent Talon

As it turns out, Katya Prugova’s intelligence was valuable indeed. He intel has lead you to snowy Russia, where you will be investigating a derelict weather station by the Norwegian border to search for hidden weapons. You will be on an intel gathering mission first and foremost, but you will end up destroying the base afterwards with C4 charges. As a secondary objective, you and your team will be responsible for testing out the mechanical Warhound mech in a live-fire scenario. This mech will walk around on four legs, cloaking when you cloak and attacking where you order. It is impossible to overstate just how helpful the Warhound will be to you during this mission. It is equipped with both mortars and guided missiles, making it an essential part of your armory here.

After viewing the opening cutscene, head forward into the blizzard. You will need to actiavate you Magnetic Goggles in order to see anything ahead of you. Although the blizzard will dull your vision without the Magnetic Goggles, it will do the same for your enemies, so you will actually have the advantage during this early section of the level. Work towards your waypoint to find a small enemy camp in the distance. You will have to kill all of the enemies here. Keep crouched to maintain a state of relative invisibility. You would actually have to try to be seen in this section of the level, as the combination of the blizzard and the camo will prove to be all but insurmountable. Move from one enemy to the next to eliminate all of them with sneaky melee kills.

When you are clear, a truck will pull up and unload two more enemies. A third and fourth enemy will emerge near the front of the truck. Mark all four of the enemies and perform a sync shot to finally clear the area and the path ahead. With that, follow the Warhound and the rest of your team ahead into the blizzard. You will soon exit the toughest part of the weather and emerge at an overlook with a small motor pool below you. A tank will patrol the area, along with dozens of enemies. This area will be absolutely impossible to pass without using the Warhound, so now is as good a time as any to learn the mech’s basic controls. Take cover behind the metal guard rail at the top of the overlook and peek out to the area below. You will obviously want to take out the tank first, so hit LB to enter the Warhound view mode and take the armored vehicle into your sights.

Using the Warhound’s mortar, peg the tank with several shots. Keep shooting until you see the tank’s orange health meter (located below the targeting reticule) deplete to zero. This will have the same effect as kicking a beehive, as the dozens of enemies in the area will all come rushing out weapons firing. Again, this situation will be far too much to handle with small arms alone. Continue to use the Warhound’s mortars to rain hell down upon the camp. Target enemies who are grouped together first, as you will be able to take them all out with one explosion. Doing this will hopefully keep the Warhound’s mortars from overheating, something that would really put a damper on the mission at hand. When you see two trucks rolling into view in the distance, you will know that you have all but cleared this section. Destroy the vehicles and any enemies who may have sprung from them to end the battle and take the motor pool.
