The quest "Thanks Mislaid" is available from the Arsmith Alehouse notice board (near the fountain square), but only after you have completed the quest "Trail of Corruption" where you had to find the Gift Ledger.

Enter Fournival's Manor (the same place that you got the gift ledger from) and go to the front desk, in the same room which you enter. On the table, find the following item:

Chamberlain's Affidavit
A letter from a foreign official praising Fournival for his contributions to Gransys's economy.

Once you pick up this item, report back to Arsmith at the Alehouse.

Note: If it's not there, You might have accidentally picked up the Chamberlains Affidavit when you did the other quest. Check in your inventory and in your stash, hopefully you will find the document there.

This completes the quest, Thanks Mislaid

Dire Straits Walkthrough

You can get the quest Dire Straits from the Pawn Guild Notice Board in Gran Soren

There are direwolves north of Gran Soren, past Windbluff tower, near the cliffs. Kill 15 of those Dire Wolves and you will complete the quest, Dire Straits.
