Persona 4 Arena Basics: Yukiko Amagi''s Movelist

We get it. Fighting games can be one tough cookie to crack, especially those developed by Japanese fighting fanatics Arc System Works. With Persona 4 Arena, the developer has taken a few steps to minimize confusion when dipping one's feet into this new release, but for fighting newbies or those who are only picking up the game to fuel their Persona fandom, it can still be a daunting task to overcome all of the systems at work in P4A. That's what our "Basics" series of guides is here for. We'll walk you through the game's controls, the combos for each character, and the game's various modes before leading into more advanced subject matter. It's everything that a new fighting fan could want, beginning with...

"The heir to the Amagi Inn and a 3rd-year at Yasogami High. Though smart and polite, she can be quite spacey... She and Chie are longtime friends. Her fans and Persona, Konohana Sakuya, let her attack at range." - Atlus' official character description.

Yukiko Amagi's movelist:

(Moves are listed first by their PS3 controls, then their Xbox 360 counterparts)
(The commands listed here assume that the character is facing towards the right. The commands will be reversed when the character is facing to the left.)
  • Furious Action: Dia: Pull this move off by hitting X or A + O or B when an opponent is attacking you. This Furious Action is unique in that it allows Yukiko to heal herself. The longer you hold the combo down, the more health Yukiko will recover, but the more you put yourself at risk of being open to attack
  • Skill: Agi: Hit upwards and to the right on the D-Pad plus Square or X. Alternately, you can hit left on the D-Pad and the X or A button to get the same result. This move is delayable, meaning you can delay your press of the second button
  • Skill: Maragi: Hit upwards and to the right on the D-Pad plus Triangle or Y. Alternately, you can hit upwards and to the right on the D-Pad and the O or B button to get the same result
  • Skill: Fire Boost: Hit upwards and to the left on the D-Pad plus the Triangle or Y button. Unlike many moves, Fire Boost has no alternate method of pulling it off
  • Skill: Fire Break: Hit upwards and to the left plus the O or the B button. Again, unlike many moves, there is no alternate way to pull off Fire Break
  • Skill: Fire Amp: Hit upwards and to the left on the D-Pad, plus Triangle or Y, plus O or B
  • SP Skill: Agidyne: Hit upwards and to the right twice in quick succession plus the Triangle or the Y button. Alternatively, you can also hit upwards and to the right plus the O or the B button to get the same result
  • Awakened SP Skill: Maragidyne: Quickly tap upwards to the left on the D-Pad twice in succession, plus Triangle or Y. Alternately, you can double tap upwards to the left on the D-Pad and hit the O or B button to get the same result
  • Instant Kill: Full Bloom: Quickly tap down on the D-Pad three times in succession, plus Triangle or Y, plus O or B
