Darksiders 2 Walkthrough Part 18 – Tears of the Mountain, Part 7

Follow the passage to the North. You have a Stringer Hive up ahead on the left and a Savage Prowler that will make an appearance during the fight. Tear through the Savage Prowler as best you can while moving North to get at the Hive itself. As long as the Hive is there Stingers keep coming and enough little guys can overwhelm Death very easily. Defeat them all and head over to the East at the Northern end of the chamber. Throw the lever on the other side of the door to restart the flow of water through this room. The channel is blocked though. Head over to the Northern stairs and look East. You will see a Shadow Bomb Growth there. Shoot the Bomb with Redemption to clear the channel. Now go and throw the lever to restore the water flow on this side.

Jump into the water below and head to the East. Go down the waterfall then start hugging the Northern Wall in the next room. Turn North into the area you found the Skeleton key. Here you can collect another Page from the Book of the Dead in the Northern small nook. Dive into the water after that and swim to the Northwestern section of the area. Here you will find it much more filled with Water. Go to the Northwestern corner and climb up the wall using the planks there. Turn to the left at the top and wall run along the Western Wall and continue onto the planks then scale upwards from there. Head through the passage to the South and throw the lever there to finish out this room. Turn around and head to the North. Look down from the ledge to spot another mid-air Boatman's Coin.

Just head to the South from there and get back to the Great Aqueduct. If Death needs to restock on any potions, now is the time to do it. Turn to the South and head on through the formerly sealed door. There you will find a golden orb with some leaves on it. Grab it and shove it toward the mound in the center of the room. It is revealed to be an Earth Crag egg. This will start the next big battle as Karkinos makes an appearance.

Karkinos
To even hurt Karkinos you must first get it to charge into the wall. It thankfully will do this regularly and often. It will also occasionally jump and slam into the ground, creating a shockwave Death must jump over to avoid. The second part is trickier. After it has hit the wall a Crag Egg will fall to the floor. Death only has a short time to get to the egg then shove it at the Karkinos to stun it. This will unfortunately also produce a baby Earth Crag but they take only moments to dispatch. Once Karkinos has been stunned, close the distance quickly and start attacking it's pink underbelly. Hit it fast and hard. Keep this going until Karkinos is at half health.

When Karkinos hits half health it will burrow into the ground once again. It will begin to unleash masses of deadly vines that will seek out Death and damage him. Karkinos will generally unleash about 4 of these before it will re-emerge from the ground. Staying close to the Karkinos makes it very simply to just evade the attacks once or twice and be done with it.

With the new attack in rotation Karkinos will still charge and use its slam attack to get at Death. Just like before use the Earth Crag eggs to expose its soft underbelly. Just keep the new tactic in mind it will not be long before Karkinos falls to Death. Unleash the Reaper form at this point to quickly kill off Karkinos and be done with the dungeon.

With the Earth Crag dead just head through the open door (after one last loot check of the room). Just head to the end of the platform and throw the lever there. It will restore the flow of the Tears to the Maker's Forge.
