Heart of the Swarm Campaign- Char Achievements: Old Soldiers
Normal Difficulty:Old Soldiers (10): Win.
Nuclear Launch Rejected (10): Destroy 20 enemy structures before the first nuclear strike launches. This is a bit of a challenge if you've come here before improving your zerglings and banelings at all, and even then can be very hard to pull off if you don't hit the toggle that allows banelings to automatically target structures. In order to maximise your assault speed, send all your forces into the same area at any given time, and make sure Kerrigan repeatedly targets the bunker emplacements and siege tanks that you run into- otherwise, you will find you lose far too many of the light zergling and baneling units to pull this off.
Recalled Down the Thunder (10): Win in less than 20 minutes. If you're trying to split your forces, or don't generate enough queens to keep your aberrations healthy, this can be difficult. Micromanagement is thankfully not so necessary for this achievement, unless you've got a surfeit of zerglings and banelings on your front line, distracting the automatic Transfusion that your queens will attempt. Again, focusing your entire attacking force on a single area at a time will go a long way here, as attacking in multiple locations doesn't actually benefit you, particularly given less units in one place means enemy units last longer and will kill off more of your forces before falling themselves.
Hard Difficulty:
Home Wrecker (10): Destroy the Planetary Fortress before the nuclear strike. This is potentially the most ridiculous achievement possible for this map. Only accomplishable through a bizarre combination of micromanagement and not terribly caring how many units are lost. Given the troops scattered throughout Warfield's fortress, you're going to want to destroy one or two of the three front bases- your best bet is likely to head to the Northwest from the main gate, since there are fewer defending troops and structures there. Having the raptor strain of zergling is immensely important as well, since it allows your attacking zerglings to bypass the less important enemies- the structures- and simply go for the gold and assault Warfield's fortress. Make sure to topple the command centers in the forward bases you pass through to gain the additional troops, and always return to the base's approach to gather the additional troops- otherwise you simply won't have the momentum or fire (claw?) power to actually destroy the building when you arrive. Don't expect Kerrigan to be able to reach the building either- and make sure you invest in the movement speed evolution for the raptors to go along with their pounce.
