Heart of the Swarm Campaign- Korhal Achievements: Planetfall

Normal Difficulty:

Planetfall (10): Win.

Fully Operational (10): Don't lose any bile launchers.  This is a moderate challenge, given the number of times Arcturus drops mercenaries and air troops in just to take out bile launchers, actually ignoring your own forces and bases to do so.  If your units move fast enough or you have enough to split them between locations, though, it ceases to be an issue- particularly if you can take out all the Terran bases and thus lower your number of available distractions from your defense requirements.  Placement of both spine crawlers and spore crawlers is pretty important to this, so make certain that you have some spare drones ready at each bile launcher drop site and you can manage this pretty easily.

Death Start (10): Destroy all three gates before the fifth bile launcher lands.  This is simplicity itself if you follow the previous articles for your attack pattern in the game- that pattern is based on where the bile launchers land and should grant you plenty of opportunity to knock down the gates in the process of securing the vital locations for the mission.  It should be possible, with enough queens and crawlers, to protect most of these five locations thoroughly before the bile launcher drops are announced, with a bit of practice.  That would make this achievement even easier to get, allowing you to focus nearly all your attention on pushing troops through the enemy encampments.

Hard Difficulty:


Crash the Party (10): Destroy all Dominion structures before the 5th bile launcher lands.  As with Death Start, the pattern described in the Planetfall guide may well be the best option for accomplishing this achievement.  The main difference here is that entrenching defenses has to become a tertiary effort, behind increasing the assault force you are working with (primary) and managing the roll across enemy emplacements (secondary).  The use of 'fire and forget' units that lack special abilities or will operate automatically (particularly queens in support of aberrations and ultralisks) is pretty much mandatory here, as is whatever setup of Kerrigan abilities allows the fastest resource growth (likely Improved Overlords and Twin Drones).  Be aware that you automatically fail the  mission if the Dominion troops manage to destroy three or more bile launchers, so keeping the first two bile launchers safe and secure is mandatory- you can stand to lose the third and fourth for the sake of continuing your attack on the Dominion bases, but any more than that and you'll fail before you can reach the achievement.  Thankfully, you don't actually have to succeed the mission to rate the achievement.... but then, with all the Dominion bases gone, you're probably going to succeed anyways.  Probably.
