Grand Ages Medieval launched this week on PS4. No, you're not accidentally reading a blog post on a PC Games website; it really did release on PS4. I'm not sure how many PS4 owners are interested in a hardcore strategy game like this, but it does at least seem to be designed to functional as well as you could hope on a PS4 controller - even if I'm having trouble accurately choosing how many items of something I want to buy or sell. One important thing to note is that the default interface view is pretty small, but thankfully you can make it massive in the options menu, making everything a lot easier to read. Bet you won't read anything else as interesting or exciting this weekend.
Rock Band is back! And...it's pretty good, just not as exciting or vital or likely to drag your friends 'round to play it as it was nearly ten years ago. That said, when you pull off one of the new freestyle solos or nail a particularly tricky note passage, it still feels more empowering than most games.
Oh, I've also been playing Star Wars Battlefront, which is really bloody good (so far). There's been the usual pissing and moaning from the 'This Isn't Battlefront' crowd, and the game needs some work, especially to spawns. But it's the most fun I've had in both a shooter and a Star Wars game in some time.
It's still good. In fact, it's more than just good: it's the best multiplayer shooter you can buy on PS4.
There's just something about Battlefield that has gone unrivalled in any other shooter. Swatting helicopters out of the sky with an RPG. Rolling into battle in a tank. Perching atop a mountain sniping enemies below. That sense of being in a war, rather than a skirmish. The scale of the whole damned thing.
With Star Wars Battlefront and Black Ops 3 around the corner, now may not be the best time to think about diving into another online shooter, of course. But if you're looking for something a little cheaper that's just as playable today as it was on release (probably better given the patches and updates), Battlefield 4 remains an excellent choice.
I've been playing Battlefront this week, but enough of that, I wanted to take this time to say a proper goodbye.
I want to thank everyone who's ever read my work, listened to me rant on the podcast or watched me be an idiot on camera. The fact that you've all taken the time to do so is something I still can't quite fathom, and it has meant the absolute world to me. I hope the guides proved to be of use to those stuck on their travels in whichever game made you want to eat a controller.
This has been by far the best two years of my life, and everyone in this office has become family to me. Whether I'm arguing about football with Burns, disciplined by my Da, mocked by the Orrys or questioning Dave's level of stupidity, it's all been an amazing ride.
I'm writing this with two hours left of my final work day and am already starting to miss this place. I'm so excited by what's ahead, but dread having to say goodbye to family. But first, to delete that browsing history...
Thank you, VG, you made work feel like home, I'll miss you x
