Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is based on pirates, so it's only natural that money is a big deal. There's plenty of riches to be had if you know where to look. You'll need them too, as Reales are used for everything from supplies to upgrades. Are you scraping the bottom of the barrel? Use our guide to learn the fastest and easiest ways to get some extra Reales for whatever you need.
This is Assassin's Creed, right? So complete some assassination request to earn some Reales. After you reach Havana, these missions will become available and they have some great rewards. Each successful assassination will get you 1,000 Reales, and you can get a bonus of 500 if you are able to complete the mission stealthily.
Since you're a pirate, you can hunt the seas and find buried treasure. In each area, you can find a treasure map that will lead you to buried treasure chests. There are 22 chests total, and they can give you up to 1,500 Reales a pop.
Like Assassin's Creed III, you can hunt a variety of animals. Assassin's Creed IV adds oceanic animals for you to hunt as well. Hunting will get you hides, bones, and other animal parts that you can sell to merchants for a pretty penny.
Throughout the game, you'll engage in naval battle with other ships. In addition to these regular ships, there are 4 special legendary ships you can battle on the open sea. These ships are very difficult to defeat (hence the name legendary!) but you can earn upwards of 20,000 Reales for defeating one.
There are always other ships sailing around the world, so you can take advantage and plunder them for some quick and easy Reales. Other ships will have money and goods on board, so you can get direct cash or sell some goods. Be aware of the ship's level before you attack it though – you don't want to end up engaging in a battle you'll lose.
These treasure chests can be found on land. After you sync all the viewpoints in an area, they will be revealed. These treasure chests have a variety of different rewards and there are always a few in each area.
Finding this rare creature is required for making the whale outfit, but after you make the costume you can continue to find it and hunt it. Every time you hunt the whale, you get a whale skin that can be sold for 4,000 Reales.
