No Sim wants to be alone. When you are playing a game of The Sims 4, you'll find that your Sim probably has several life goals that relate to finding a mate, getting married, and settling down. If you are new to the Sims series, it might seem a little overwhelming. We've compiled a guide to help you get your Sim started down the path of love. Whether they just want to have a fling, are looking for their first kiss, or want to find their soulmate, these tips will help your Sim be successful in romance.
Before your Sims can start having romantic interactions with other Sims, you need to get out there and meet other people! This means you'll have to get out and find other Sims. It's best to have a Sim go and visit social locations, such as the library, bars, parks, and other public locations. You can also socialize with your co-workers through your job. Once you know few people, your Sim can also try to throw parties at your house to get to know them better. This will help you see who your Sim might be compatible with.
Look at the traits and aspirations of other Sims to get an idea of how they will interact with your own Sim. Sims with similar traits and aspirations to your own will be more compatible. If Sims share interests, they can discuss these topics and have great social gains. Use the “Get To Know” social option to learn more about a Sim's traits! Don't forget to check out the romance option as well – if this area is blank, a Sim can't start relationship because they are the wrong age or they are already taken.
You can't go from strangers to lovers. First, you need to become friends with the Sim you want to court. When you interact with a Sim, a friendship bar will appear, showing your relationship. A green bar is good – a red bar means there's trouble! Work on filling up the green bar so that your friendship can grow. While you are building this relationship, avoid romantic interactions. Rushing things to quickly can lead to disaster.
After the two of your Sims have become good friends, it's time to start heating things up. Start off by using innocent romantic interactions, like compliments, hugs, and light flirting. Don't jump right into kissing or other physical interactions, or you might find yourself getting slapped! Once you start a romance, a pink romantic bar will appear, just like the green friendship bar. This will help you see how your relationship is progressing. As it gets higher, move onto more romantic interactions, like kissing, dating, and more!
Once your relationship bar gets high enough, and after you have your first kiss, you can ask the other Sim to be your exclusive boyfriend/girlfriend. This means you two will be in an official relationship! From now on, you can get in serious trouble for cheating or behaving badly towards your significant other. If all goes well, you can even ask your partner to move in with you! They'll bring their household funds with them.
Once you are in a relationship with another Sim, keep building up the relationship. Then you can eventually propose to your significant other. This will change your status to engaged! After your Sims are engaged, you can immediately get married. Your Sims can have a marriage ceremony at a public location or they can elope. After this, your Sims will move in together and merge households and household funds!
