There have been a lot of new entries into the survival horror genre as of late, and one of the more memorable ones has been Dying Light. In this fast-paced game, which combines both first-person combat and free-running mechanics, players need to figure out how to survive a zombie infested world. Staying alive is the aim of the game, and if you need some tips, we've got you covered.
It may seem like a no-brainer, but in this game it's worth mentioning – loot everything! This is a world with very few resources, so you'll need everything available in order to craft weapons and supplies, especially early on in the game. Some of the best loot will come from airdrops, so if you see a plan make a drop, head over there immediately to stake your claim.
Don't waste your ammo. It's going to be hard to find, and you'll need every bullet. Make them count by aiming for the head and use the environment to your advantage by blowing up gas tanks for extra damage without spending precious ammunition.
When killing zombies, always aim for the head. This is going to take them down a lot faster. If you aren't using a gun, you should still aim for the head or neck. These are the most sensitive areas on a zombie! Don't waste your time trying to take them down by attacking limbs or the torso.
Speaking of which, shooting a zombie in the head is usually the only way to kill it. While removing an arm or leg might hinder them, they'll still crawl after you with all they've got – and if you let your guard down, you find find your ankles getting bit. Make sure you take out all zombies by seeing if you get XP after a kill.
Use the environment in order to avoid certain enemies. For example, some enemies can't climb, so getting to an elevated location is a great strategy. Some enemies are too big to fit through doors or passageways, so you can use this to your advantage.
Night time is the most dangerous time. To protect yourself, stay inside and sleep in safe zones in order to make it through until morning. Don't make the mistake of venturing outside at night until you have gotten some ranks under your belt. If you do go out at night, make sure to only use light when necessary and watch the enemies on your map.
Upgrade your weapons. You'll need to find blueprints in order to do so, but it will definitely be worth it in the long run for the extra damage, speed, and elemental effects you can get.
Kyle has three different skill trees: Survival, Agility, and Power. Survival will change the weapons you have access to. Agility relates to your fitness level, which is the amount of endurance Kyle has while free-running. Finally, power is directly related to your stamina, which is Kyle's energy level during combat.
Don't rush. Take your time and check out the various side quests the game has to offer. Not only will this help you get the most XP for your character, but you'll also get the most out of the game!
