Titanfall: Tips and Tricks .

You may or may not have read one of our Titanfall reviews, which I’m sure you’ll agree that it an awesome game, by which you have probably already gone and bought the game, played it a little bit, but now you’re looking for some tips and tricks to help you easily kill other enemy pilots and save the day. Well, it’s good you’re here then because I’ve got some good Titanfall: Tips and Tricks to help you do just that. Also, read our small Titanfall review for those too lazy to read the larger one.

1)      The wall hang trick beats all!

Let’s say some chump is chasing you. You’re low on HP, so you know you can’t just turn around and blast him in the face with your rifle, but you need to get rid of him. How? Simple, all you do is run around a corner, jump to a wall and then press the L trigger (Right click for PC, I think). Your character will then stab his knife into the wall, staying in place at the wall, whilst you hold down the L trigger. You can then shoot the enemy when he runs around the corner. Good job!

Dodge, dip, duck, dive… and dodge!

2)      The bait and switch!

Sometimes you just have to rodeo a Titan (the act of jumping onto an enemy Titan, opening up its power source and shooting it). The problem is that some players have the Electric Smoke ability on their Titans. Electric Smoke sends out an electric charge around the Titan, and will shock anyone who’s rodeoing it. Long story short, if you’re on top of a Titan and that Titan uses Electric Smoke, then you’re dead. So how do we avoid such a horrible end? The key is to bait the enemy to use the ability.

You can either watch the Titan you’re going to jump on top of, seeing if it has already used its Electric Smoke, or jump straight onto the enemy Titan. If the pilot is going to use the ability, he’ll use it right there and then. So jump off a couple almost immediately after you jump on, wait for the Electric Smoke ability to end and then jump back on and blast it to pieces.

3)      The bait and Titanfall, LoLz edition.

So this is almost exactly like the bait and switch tactic, the difference is that instead of baiting the Electric Smoke, you jump onto the enemy Titan and bait them to come out of their Titan and shoot you. Just after the Pilot has left their Titan, there will be a brief period where that Titan will slump down onto one knee and won’t move. Whilst it’s doing that, you jump off, and call in your Titan on top of the enemy titan. Then you run.

Your Titan will spawn on top of the enemy Titan, and will destroy it. Awesome, right?

Timing is key ladies and gentlemen.

4)      The letting minions die instead of you, tactic.

Minions are basically easy kills for most players. They only take a few shots, one shot if you’re using the Smart Pistol, and then they die. So how can we use them? When you see a large group of your minions, they typically move in groups of four, follow them. Pilots will typically not be able to recognize Pilots from minions, so whilst the enemy is distracted with the minions, you can blast them to bits.

5)       Hacking the spectres

You can hack Spectre minions by running up to them and pressing the X button. Your pilot will then get behind them and hack the minion with his/her knife. Once he has been hacked, all of the enemy Spectre minions, including the minion you just hacked, will be on your team instead. Whilst they don’t exactly bring a lot of fire power, they can be helpful.

Hacking specters is key for survival

6)       The run, jump, glide

Sometimes it feels as though the Titans are better, faster and hit harder than other Pilots. Of course, that would be the case if you don’t make the most out of the movement system. Run and jump against the walls, and then when you land immediately press the jump better again to keep up speed and momentum. This is a great way of getting to where you wanna go, as quickly as possible.

7)       Using explosions is cool

If you are in a Titan, and you are being rodeoed by an enemy Pilot, and you have a weapon that does explosive splash damage, then simply walk to a wall and fire at the wall. The splash damage and explosion’s from your weapon will kill the enemy Pilot who is rodeoing you.

8)       Hitching a ride

Did you know you can jump on top of an allied Titan? No? Well, you can! So do it! Not only does jumping on top of an allied Titan stop an enemy pilot from jumping on top, but it is also means you can hitch a ride and blast some enemy Titan whilst you’re at it.

Asking for a ride isn’t necessary, just hop on!

9)       In Attrition game mode, equip the smart pistol and fire!

Attrition, a mode whereby you get points for shooting minions, Titans, and doing all other manner of things is best played with a Smart Pistol. The smart pistol will lock onto the minions in a matter of seconds, and with one shot you can kill them all. Run around the edges of the map, killing all of the minions, and you’ll find Attrition an easy mode to play. This tactic isn’t just useful for Attrition, it’s also good for when you want to decrease the spawn time of your Titan. Remember, achieving objectives and killing minions decreases your Titan spawn time by a few seconds.

10)      Smash and boom!

When fighting against an enemy Titan, be sure to shoot its weak spots. When an enemy Titan’s shield has been reduced, weak parts of the Titan will glow red, indicating where to hit it for maximum damage.

If perhaps you’re not the best at controlling your Titan, and you’re not very good at 1v1s, then equip the Titan ability Nuclear Ejection. When your Titan gets to critical damage, you’ll be automatically ejected, and, after a few seconds, your Titan will explode (destroying the enemy Titan)! Cool huh? Just don’t try it in any enclosed spaces, as the explosion will kill you.

There we have it, there are my tips and tricks for Titanfall! I hope they help you on your journey to be the best! If not, then don’t shoot the messenger!
