Beta Data: February 13, 2015 .

What better day to return to Beta Data than Friday 13th? There has been a lot of news since the last Beta Data so let’s dive right in.

A couple of closures with Bioware announcing they will no longer be working on Shadow Realms. Also, a smaller name but no less sad to hear about, Rising Generals has ceased production due to more technical problems than they felt they could overcome. On the other side of the coin, the anime-themed social MMORPG Dream of Mirror Online is re-opening and is now in closed beta thanks to the demand and passion from its fanbase. Indentity has been fully funded on Kickstarter and will be continuing their crowdfunding through their website as they work hard on getting the game ready for full release. And 8BitMMO has finally launched version 1.0 having been in development since 2001!

In Steam news, Rise of Incarnates is now available through Steam Early Access for free. Immune has been greenlit on Steam and is currently working on integration. And Project Gorgon is also working on integration, meanwhile contemplating going for a $5 monthly subscription fee rather than going the cash shop monetization route and how they could work this through Steam, as well as putting through plenty of ingame bug fixes, a new launcher, and plenty of quality of life changes. So they’ve been working hard!

Albion Online’s Winter Alpha has been ongoing since January 27th and will be continuing until February 27th. They’ve been going through stress tests, opened 8 new regions with all new mobs, added new minibosses to The Keepers of Albion, increased PvE difficulty by a full 23%, and have added guards to city entrances to lower griefing. There’s plenty going on and I’m sure there’ll be more to come. Meanwhile, Shroud of the Avatar has to date raised $5.7million towards game costs! On top of this, the team behind Ultima Underworld have started a Kickstarter for their new RPG: Underworld Ascendant, and it has been announced that if you back both this game and Shroud of the Avatar, you will receive in-game rewards. It’s good to see companies helping each other out in some way!
