Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain allows you to recruit a variety of characters in the game. This is defined by the game as a “Buddy” system and you can select your “Buddy” before starting each of the mission in the game. Quiet is one of the “Buddy” that you can recruit in the game and this guide covers details on how to recruit her.
You can recruit Quiet in Mission 11. To unlock Mission 11 in the game, you need to complete one of the missions from 07, 08, 09 or 10 and have unlocked the medical platform at the Mother Base.
You will have to fight Quiet in Mission 11 leading into a decision on whether to let her live or die at the end of the fight. You have to let her live and carry her to your helicopter in order to get her to join you as a “Buddy” in the game.
After you complete Mission 14 in the game, you will unlock a new Side Op called “Visit Quiet”. This requires you to return to the Mother Base and head to the Sniper’s Cell on the first deck of the Medical Platform. Once you are done with this Side Op, upon leaving through the Helicopter, you will see a cutscene and Quiet will join you as a “Buddy”.
As seen in the earlier gameplay footage, she can prove to be quite useful in combat as well as for scouting the area. She is also really good with her Sniper Rifle and can help Snake in any tough situation.
