There are a lot of geeky and/or nerdy references in Knights of Pen & Paper 2 that will be familiar to you if you’re a fan of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, Mythbusters, and other related pursuits. So if you know your geek stuff, you wouldn’t have much of a problem getting Knights of Pen & Paper 2, its references, and how they relate to the overall playing experience.
If you’ve played a lot of table top RPGs, or even computer RPGs, you’ll know that this is an important aspect of the game. You’ve got to have a balanced party, and in the game, this means having one fluent spell caster (the blue “mind” score is what you have to look at here), a “tank” who can serve as your first line of defense (red “body” score), and a fast and furious attacker (green “sense” score).
While battles in Knights of Pen & Paper 2 are typically fast, ending in less than five minutes, one minute out of those five can make a world of difference. That’s why you should vary your strategy depending on the situation, may it be a tough boss character, or a large horde of bad guys ganging up on you. And that’s where skill points come in – for example, you may want one character to use their skill points on single-target skills, if you’ve got someone else who’s capable of taking out a lot of enemies in one go.
All in all, your party can have a maximum of five people, but there are nine classes you can unlock. That means you can switch your characters from class to class, and that’s going to be very instrumental in later battles. So with that said, it’s not just your strategy that has to vary, but also the class of your characters, as based on whatever you need at that time.
Aside from the equipment you can win by completing a quest, there’s also equipment that can be crafted from the recipes you find. Be alert for materials that may be required to create certain types of equipment, and you’ll have an enviable collection of weapons, armor, and other items you can use to your advantage.
