If you’ve just downloaded this game for your Android or iOS device, we suggest that you stop for a moment and check out our DragonSoul strategy guide, so that way you can get a head start on the game and enjoy some success early on. In fact, we’d recommend you go through this strategy guide if you’ve been playing this game for some time, as you just might end up learning something new, or have your memory jogged about something you need to do in order to move forward in the game.
While your heroes gain experience points automatically once you complete a stage, you can also use XP potions to give them a bit of a boost outside of the battlefield. It’s suggested that you have about five or six of these potions, and use them when you unlock new heroes. You should, however, use them as well on your existing heroes to keep them competitive.
Leveling up heroes through stages and XP potions is one thing. But it’s also important that you get them promoted as well. You’ll get different types of equipment during battles, and you can use such equipment on your heroes, or craft new items that you can equip on them later on. That promotes your heroes, and with promotion your heroes will enjoy some improved stats and the ability to equip more items. It is usually best to promote heroes one at a time, with the best ones going first.
With each day that you log in and play DragonSoul, you’ll be given new missions and quests. Completing them gives you a lot of free goodies, so don’t hesitate – play them if they’re available and you’ll be better for all the loot and experience you receive.
In DragonSoul, the only thing you have to control on your own is the timing in which you use your heroes’ special powers. This is a very important part of each battle, and we would personally suggest that you save them until the final stage, as that’s when you will need them the most.
Putting things into further perspective, you don’t want to use your special skills towards the end of the second stage. You do, however, want to use those powers early in a stage if they’re fully powered up, so you can get off to a fast start. By the time you reach the final stage, chances are they’ll all be recharged anyway. Healers, however, are an exception to this general rule, as it’s best that you use their skills the moment they’re available to use.
As it is in other RPGs and many other types of mobile games, you have the option to replay previously completed stages – that’s what many gamers refer to as grinding. But there is a method to the grinding that you have to follow, and that’s replaying those specific missions where you are supposed to receive a require item. If you don’t get it the first time you play a mission, then repeat it until you receive the item that you need, and more loot in the process.
Tap on the items you want to acquire (or need to acquire), check and see which mission you can find it at, and replay, replay, replay. Organize raids if you’re able to do it, and if you’ve unlocked Auto Raid by scoring three stars in a mission, take advantage of that feature as well.
There are other freebies in the game you can take advantage of, such as the Silver Chest you receive about 10 minutes or so. You can also get Gold Chests every two days. All in all, those chests can give you more of that free and useful stuff you’ll need; if you get a chance to open those chests, do it and you’ll be furthering your progress in the game by doing so.
Evolving heroes is traditionally a difficult and very expensive thing to do, and that’s certainly the case in DragonSoul. But there are clear benefits to evolving heroes, even if you’ll end up paying an arm and a leg for it. If you evolve a hero, that would give them tremendous stat bonuses, and give you a vital edge in battle.
But what would you need in order to evolve one of your heroes? You’ll need Soulstones for that, and typically they can be found inside the Silver and Gold chests you receive as freebies. (See above.) You can also complete specific missions on Elite level, as that’s another reliable way to get more Soulstones.
You may think that playing in PvP mode is not necessary when you can choose to play in a single-player campaign, but we actually advise you to take full advantage of this mode. Playing against others in the Pit will allow you to gain more rewards. Check the list of possible opponents and always go for the ones who are easiest to defeat; you’ll know if someone is easy to beat by looking at their power ratings.
