As is the case in other Match 3 games, you have five lives to start with, and each time you fail a level, you lose one life. You’ll get those lives back eventually, though you’ll have to wait 30 minutes per life that you lose. If you can’t wait that long, you can go to your phone’s settings and set the time ahead by two hours and 30 minutes if you’ve lost all your lives, or in 30-minute increments depending on how many lives you lost. Return to the game and you’ll get your lives back just like that – they won’t go away even if you set the time back to normal.
Now, if you don’t want to go through all the trouble of changing the time and changing it back, there is another way to get your lives back quickly, and that’s connecting your game to Facebook. This will allow you to ask fellow FarmVille: Harvest Swap players for lives, though if you don’t have too many friends who play the game, if at all, you can always add people from the Google Play review pages, or on the game’s Facebook page.
Special pieces can help you clear the board faster, though there’s nothing really too different from other Match 3 games – you get a sparkling crop by matching four, and a barrel by matching five. Form an L-shape or T-shape of the same piece and you get a prize crop. You’ll get a box by matching a 2 x 2 box of crops – simply draw a line from one crop through a matching crop, then create another line with all adjacent, matching crops, even if they’re diagonal.
Each stage has its own set of goals, so this will require you to fine-tune your strategy per stage and check the objectives carefully. In any case, though, you’ll want to combine two or more special pieces if the opportunity arises, so that you can clear your board faster.
Creating a multi-box combo can be tricky, but it will be worth your while if you’re able to do it. Draw a line through one crop type, then draw a line through a second crop set, or maybe a third or fourth if applicable. This is a great way to finish a level and clear the board quickly.
