You first step is to finish the tutorial where you will know some basics of the game together with important things you should remember while playing Card City Nights. After the basic introduction, you can now access the overworld map and deck building system any time by simple tapping their respective icons. To start a battle, first you need to find an opponent from the area you travel using the map system and tap the time of crossed swords. For every victory, you will get booster packs together with gold that you can use for deck building additional firepower in your deck. Now it is time to let you know how to play the game.
Your primary setting is between the three-by-three square grids where each players takes turn in drawing and placing cards as both players will play their turn to push other players until they don’t have available move to make or running out of health.
You will notice that the cards you play has an arrow pointing in one of available direction. Here you will determine the connection of each card by matching these arrows together. Along with arrows, you will also see symbols such as green cross, coin, shield or sword. These symbols represent what kind of combination they can create. Through card connection, if you can make the sum of their symbols is three or greater you will cast a combo. Example for shield combo, it will give you defense points based on how many as there are shield symbols. And for sword combo it will deals damage or disable a card. Green Cross has the ability to revive disable cards in game and lastly the coin plays as neutral.
So every combo will play based to what kind of symbol is dominant in the chain. If the two symbols are tied, you can select between those effects. For instance, you successfully made a chain of two swords and one shield definitely it will give you an attack combo. If it as one sword, neutral and one shield you can either select through health or do damage.
For every turn, you need to play a card and there is no way for you to skip a turn even this will push you for worst situation. If happens that you run out of cards, you will deal with increasing damage for each turn until you draw your cards to play.
Maximize the usage of neutral. Yes these cards aren’t available for dealing damage or healing other disabled cards but being neutral cards play as the most flexible cards that is generally use to make a link between other cards. In addition, neutral cards have more arrows than any other class as they have wide range of connection they can do with other cards for improving the overall impact of it.
Always revive disabled cards. Reviving is not a waste of move within turn and even it is just two or three, you always need cards that can revive other units. You should always have cards in game and never run out so you will not experience the major disadvantage of playing Card City Nights. Definitely disabling one another cards is your play for easy winning, thus you should always prepare a counter attack of it by getting cards that can revive.
The three main strategy. Actually in any card battle game, you can consider different strategies based on what kinds of cards available in your deck. You can try your strategy over and over again while battling will improve it with every new cards added in your deck. But as a rule of a thumb, also based on other Card City Night players, it is good to consider three primary strategies such as attrition, lock-up and damage.
In attrition you should focus on building a deck with close to the maximum number of cards (40 and up) and beating your opponent through outlasting them using defensive and revival cards. The main idea of this gameplay is to keep your board clear with corresponding concrete defense so from here you can watch your opponent as they run out of moves before you. Actually this will take you time but definitely effective.
Next is the offensive strategy and this is the most popular as you need only to do damage against your opponent using main chain attack as possible with highest combo count. In this set up you should focus on your deck in making damage through double damage supporting cards and also cards that can let you attack directly through your opponent’s defense. Everything is self-explanatory.
Finally the lock-up strategy. Actually this is the fastest strategy you can use in battle that will ask you to have more neutral cards for chain combos. The main concept of this tactic is to get as many one-damage combos out as quickly as possible and to disable all available moves on the enemy board. This is perfect if you are looking forward for other gameplay aside from survival-ability and offensive this time you will push your opponent to slow down or even cancel their ability to do an action based on their tactics such as healing or attacking.
Never fix your deck. As you make progress in game you will encounter different cards, strategy and lot more. In the short story, you are improving in different aspect and so your deck should be. Never fix the card in your deck, always learn how can you improve it. Definitely it is all about improving. Regarding with this game, for example you collect more upward-pointing cards definitely you will put other downward in your deck so you can easily do a combo.
Control your opponent. The best way to practice this is to disable opponent cards that will force them defeat with attrition strategy. Also it is a good strategy to practice is when you about to disable card, you can go for the the ones with the most arrow pointing to the most space. This will block your opponent from activating cards and also from making any kind of combos with the direction. To execute this strategy you can wait for opponent to do a combo and then lock up he card they’re most likely to add as the last unit in that given chain.
