1. Attack defensive building first when raiding. Plus you can also ransack their resources for your own advantage. Yes you can put down walls to protect your buildings against ground units. Actually you will never find wall as too difficult to afford since it is really cheap. What you need to mind in building walls are the position or the design of your city as well as upgrading them. Ensure that you have a constant upgrade with your walls since low level wall is still nonsense especially in dealing with top tier players.
