1. Reload your weapons manually!
One of the game’s tips is to not reload your weapon too often and just switch to your other weapon. While this is good advice, sometimes you just need to stick with your current weapon. For example, if you’re doing a long range mission you’re probably going to want to use your sniper rifle the entire time. When you’re currently in cover, there’s a red button underneath your ammo count at the top right. Be sure to pay attention to your ammo count as you can only manually reload when you’re low. If you’re quick about it, you won’t have too much down time.
2. Watch videos to get secondaries!
Occasionally after you beat a mission, upon returning to the mission select screen the game will prompt you with an option to watch an advertisement. If you accept it, you’ll be rewarded with a secondary item, such as a homing rocket or medkit afterwards. Considering that buying secondaries costs gold, the premium currency of the game, this might be worth your time.
3. Aim for the head!
This goes without saying but headshots are an automatic critical hit, dealing intense damage to your target. Critical hits almost always kills them in one hit. This goes double for the long range missions where you usually have a time limit and speed is key to success. Headshots are still great even if you aren’t using a sniper rifle, so don’t forget about your assault rifles or shotguns. Shotgun blasts to the face are particularly devastating!
4. Shoot those barrels!
Like any good action game, Terminator Genisys has those wonderful red barrels! You can spot these barrels sitting around in some of the levels. When damaged enough, they will explode into a fiery mess and severely – if not outright kill – hurt anything nearby. Save these for when enemies begin to clump up around them; they might help turn the tide of a losing battle!
5. The Spec ops missions refresh!
Completing spec op missions is the only way to obtain plasma cells, another currency needed to unlock the next tier of upgrades for your weapons. These missions are a bit tricky, so be sure that you meet the recommend power for your weapons. Additionally, you can tackle optional challenges when doing these missions to get more rewards. You’ll get more plasma cells for the trouble, and sometimes even gold! Be sure not to chew off more than you can handle, though. If you’re having a rough time, you can also just wait for the spec ops mission to refresh. They refresh every couple hours or so and potentially will be easier than the previous mission.
