Line Hidden Catch is based off of the LINE series where they are all essentially the same game with the same play style as the rest of the series, but the graphics are a bit different and what they put in the game is pretty much the same. The thing that remains consistent regardless of the version that you are getting, is that it will be about finding the odd thing that is not the same between the two pictures that you receive in the beginning. The game gets you to get motivated to try and find the difference between the pictures by giving you a good tutorial of the game along with some easy puzzles to solve while also giving you the occasional “Good job” or “Excellent” to make you feel accomplished in finishing the puzzle. The puzzles begin getting harder as well as the fact that the puzzles begin to get a bit more difficult in terms of the detail that is different as well as the number of details that are different. There are no repeats for the level that you are on, so you will often have to restart the whole thing in order to get past the level that you are on, so that means that there is no starting at the puzzle that you lost at, but rather at the puzzle that you began with. I will get into a couple more details about this game, but I wanted to give a short overview of the game.
This is no game to relax with, let me tell you, it is a very fast paced game that requires you to finish within a time limit. The time limit is used in order to score you. This means that the shorter amount of time that it takes for you to find all of the differences between the two pictures that they give you, the more points that you will receive from spotting all of the differences. After time is up, you will be given a certain number of points depending on how many differences that you spotted. This also means that you have to finish the puzzle as quickly as you can. If you can’t find the differences, you could be very well done for in this game! This game only runs out of time by giving you a “Time Over” if you did not find all 5 differences that the game required you to find. If you do manage to find all 5 of the differences, you will be see a “Clear” pop out that shows you that you have cleared the whole puzzle and can move on to the next one. In order to get the best score in Line Hidden Catch or really any Line game, you will have to find the differences extremely quickly in order to score the most points and then you will be able to receive more points and will eventually score enough points in order to beat your friends. That moves me onto the next topic.
There is a competition feature in Line Hidden Catch that really gives a competitive nature to the game rather than a slow paced game where you have all the time in the world in order to complete the puzzle. This competitive feature in Line Hidden Catch will allow you to challenge your friends through social media websites who will receive notifications showing that you have challenged them to a Line Hidden Catch match. Then, it will just be a matter of time before they come rolling in with their best score to try and beat each other out. There is also a separate competitive feature that offers the highest scores that people have gotten over the day, week, month, or even year. The people who are usually at the top of those leaderboards are absolutely crazy at the game. It’s unlikely that you will find yourself at the top of those leaderboards, but if you are really good, you could possibly be within the top in finding the differences between two pictures.
Over the course of the stages that you go through in Line Hidden Catch, you will be given more hard challenges that give you a bit more difficulty when it comes to trying and finding all of the differences in the game. The differences become more difficult to detect and they become more faint than they were before in the earlier stages. This makes the game to continuously be difficult and make the game so that it is a decently good challenge regardless of how good you are at this game which also makes you want to go farther and try harder at the game that makes you come back to the game. The difficulty also helps determine who is good and who is not as good at the game. The people who are better at the game will be able to score more points in the later stages than people who aren’t as good at the game. So if you are good at the game, you will find that you will have an easier time. The sound effects of the game are also really cutesy because the game consists of a ton of different cute animals that are more Japanese-like, as in, more anime-like. The animals just serve as more of a basis for which the pictures are used in order to find the differences between the pictures. That means that the cute pictures are basically just decoration as well as the fact that the series of the company LINE would also be different simply based off of the type of LINE game.
LINE Hidden Catch is one of the better puzzle games out of the LINE series of mobile puzzle games, but as with most puzzle games, gems are vital to help you get through the levels. That means that you have the ability to continue playing until you get really bored of the game. If for some reason, you don’t get all of your energy back, you can set your clock back and that should restore all of your energy. Don’t worry about your energy if you set your time back. They aren’t able to deduct energy from your account even if you go back in time.
If you want to purchase more gems so that you can get more power-ups, you should be purchasing more gems so that you can get more off for the number of gems that you get. That also means that you are using less money than you would be if you purchased fewer gems; so less gems per dollar.
The graphics and everything are really good and the game is really fun to play, but I just feel like it is such a copy of other games. So I don’t think that the game is particularly lacking compared to those similar games, but I just don’t rate it as high because it isn’t original. The characters in LINE Hidden Catch are pretty cute and unique, but they also take that from a television show rather than making it themselves, so overall, it is a pretty good game, but it doesn’t really have a uniqueness aspect to it.
I think that the added of a better competition against friends aspect to the game, it would be a lot more interesting and a lot more fun if you could see both you and your friend’s character and see them side by side and racing live when you are playing it. It would add to the uniqueness of the game compared to the games that are really similar to this one. It would also add another feature that other games don’t have right now. There are a couple of complaints of the game being a little bit crashy at times. What I mean by that, is that there are a lot of crashes while people are playing the game.
In-app purchases grant you a couple of different items. For instance, you will have the ability to purchase a couple of gems that you can use in order to purchase some new characters or power-ups. The power-ups in this game really make the game way too easy to solve. The power-ups help give you a general location of every single possible hidden difference that there is. This allows players to find the general direction of the difference and make it a lot easier to solve and find. So that also makes it easier to solve the puzzle and get more points. This allows the game to be a lot easier for the players who are willing to use some real life money in order to get a slight advantage in terms of finding the answers more quickly. The people who are at the highest on the leaderboard are also extremely high gem users who will use all of the power-ups hoping that they get a ton of points from making the game a lot easier due to the power-ups that they use in order to gain an advantage over those people who don’t decide to spend any real life money on a free game.
Artwork: I would rate Line Hidden Catch a 7/10. The animals are pretty cute and the actual artwork of the whole thing is pretty nice and adds a nice, different concept than a game similar. I will admit that they pretty much just used the artwork of the cartoon, but if I was just judging it based off of the artwork, it was still pretty good.
Music and SFX: I would rate Line Hidden Catch a 5/10. The music is okay, but it doesn’t really give the feeling of running and trying to get a high score, or anything that I’d appreciate and the sound effects are also pretty cheesy considering the other games that I have played which were similar.
Story and Originality: I would rate Line Hidden Catch a 2/10. There is no real story here. All you are doing is trying to get a high score using a penguin or some other character. So you are not really following any kind of storyline that you need to complete. Both have the exact same playstyle as Line Hidden Catch, so it is pretty much the exact same game with a skin on it to cover it up a little bit.
General Gameplay: I would rate Line Hidden Catch a 6/10. Disregarding the fact that it is just a cover up of another game, it is pretty good in terms of gameplay because the controls are simple, but they really give you a hard time and make you think about which direction you go and force you to try and improve your reaction times in order to get better at the game. The power-ups are also very fun and interesting to play with that make you want to play more.
Addictiveness: I would rate Line Hidden Catch a 8/10. It is a pretty addicting game that makes you feel like you can do better every time because every time you lose, you feel like, “if only I could have seen that” where you think that you can keep improving until you ultimately get bored of the game and it doesn’t become entertaining anymore.
Overall Rating: Overall, I would rate Line Hidden Catch a 6/10 because it is addicting due to the nature of the game, but it isn’t original at all and it doesn’t have any kind of story to follow while playing.
