Before I started playing Zombie World War, I could already imagine what it would be about. I like the fact that the developers have managed to keep it a bit original, by implementing a different kind of gameplay, compared to all of the other zombie apocalypse games out there. I would say that the artwork and music of Zombie World War are pretty average, but this doesn’t take away that the game is a nice time-killer arcade game. A very positive aspect about Zombie World War is that there are many different kinds of missions that you can play. This keeps the gameplay fresh and entertaining in my opinion. There are also many different types of zombies that you need to take down and weapons that you can purchase and equip.

 

Unfortunately, there are also several negative aspects in Zombie World War. For starters, the developers of Zombie World War decided to implement a lot of advertisements in their game. It is understandable that free-to-play games have advertisements in them, but it is important to place them in such a way, that they will not obstruct or annoy the players. The developers of Zombie World War failed at doing this, and simply implemented a lot of pop-up advertisements. The pop-ups show up at random times, exactly when you are about to tap on the screen. This makes it feel like the developers of Zombie World War try to trick players into tapping on the ads, so that they can generate revenue for themselves. The worst part about the advertisements in Zombie World War is that, if you accidently do tap on them, your game will minimalize and your browser or app store will start up. This is simply very obstructive and annoying and the developers should look into changing this as soon as possible.

Artwork: I give Zombie World War a 7/10 for its artwork. The graphics and animations in Zombie World War are of above average quality, but they seem to work pretty well with the theme of the game. You cannot move in Zombie World War, which means that you are shooting at waves of zombies, without being able to defend yourself otherwise. Zombie World War has some pretty decent special effects, such as blood spatters and a lot of different zombie designs. This makes up for the above average graphics of the game.

Music & SFX: I give Zombie World War a 7/10 for its music and SFX. There are only a few soundtracks in Zombie World War, and they are on a constant loop. This means that you will be hearing the same music, over and over again. I don’t mind when mobile games have only a few soundtracks, but having them in a constant loop can really annoy players. There are several sound effects, from main menu button SFX to gunshot SFX, which are of above average quality. I do like the fact that the developers managed to merge the graphics with the sounds of the game, making it a nicely balanced game.

Story & Originality: I give Zombie World War a 7/10 for its story and originality. There are a ton of zombie survival games out on both Google Play Store and iOS App Store, which makes Zombie World War not such an original game concept. Luckily, the gameplay of Zombie World War is different than any other zombie survival game I have played. I like the fact that you cannot move around in the level, and all you have to do is pay attention and stop incoming waves of zombies. It is also nice that there is a world map with different types of missions. You can select any mission that you would like to play. There is no real story behind the game, but it is easy to make one up, because there is a zombie apocalypse going on in the game.

General Gameplay: I give Zombie World War a 7/10 for general gameplay. The gameplay in Zombie World War starts with a small tutorial, in which a sexy guide tells you how to properly play the game. You will learn how to shoot zombies and use specialty items. You will also learn how to purchase and equip new weapons. After the tutorial is over, the gameplay becomes pretty straightforward, but thankfully it is still pretty challenging and entertaining. This is due to the fact that there are many different zombie types, which are stronger than the normal zombies. I like the fact that the controls are responsive and smooth, and the user interface fits the overall theme of the game pretty well. It also makes it easy to navigate through the game.

Addictiveness: I give Zombie World War a 7/10 for addictiveness. It is refreshing to see, that there are still developers out there that do not implement any kind of playtime limitations into their games. This means that players can play Zombie World War without having to worry about any energy bars, lives or timers. They can play the game whenever they want, however long they want. In my opinion, Zombie World War is a nice time-killer game, but I could understand that people get addicted to the game. There are a lot of different missions you can play and weapons that you can purchase, which enhances the addictiveness of the game.  The only unfortunate aspect of the game is, that there are many pop-up ads implemented in the game.
All things considered, I give Zombie World War a 7/10.
