The world map consists of a lot of levels, and you will have to complete a level successfully, in order to be able to play the next one. If you are not quick enough, your customers will lose their patience, and either not tip you or leave. Once you have completed a certain amount of levels in Story Mode, you will unlock the next restaurant, which has a new theme. The main Story Mode continues like this, until you reach the last restaurant and finish the game.
The second game mode is called Relax mode, which allows you to take your time. The customers in Relax Mode will not leave, however they will give you a smaller tip, if you are slow at serving them. The third game mode is called Challenge Mode, in which you need to try to beat levels in a certain amount of time. You do not have much time, so you will have to be very quick, in order to get a very high score. The last game mode is called Expert Story, which you will unlock by finishing the main Story Mode. In the Expert Story mode, you will have another eighty levels to play, but you do not get to choose which food items or drink items you want to serve next. All the appliances have already been integrated, and the difficulty in this mode lies in the customers, who ask for a mix of varies things.
There is a Hall of Fame in Burger Shop, in which you can see the trophies that you have earned throughout your gameplay. Each game mode has its own trophies, and you can challenge yourself to earn every single one of them. Another nice feature in Burger Shop is that you can change from players, if there is more than one user of a mobile device. This means that you can set up different profiles, and select the one that you want to play as.
Being successful and serving your customers in a fast pace, will reward you with a lot of cash in Burger Shop. Unfortunately, there is no in-game store where you can spend the cash that you have earned, because you can keep adding new machines, everything you successfully complete a level. At some point, you will have every machine in the game, and there will be no need for further upgrades or more appliances. Choosing what food item to offer next can be pretty difficult because they all will bring in a different amount of profit. I was very pleased to see that the developers of Burger Shop have implemented four different game modes, which adds a lot of hours of gameplay to the game. The first thing I noticed about Burger Shop is the fact that the graphics are very nice and detailed. The graphics remind me of cartoon shows, but they also remind me of real fast food joints. I have no idea how the developers managed to do this, but I really like it and think that is very creative. There are a lot of very nice and realistic sound effects as well, making you feel like you are the real owner of the restaurant, and really are preparing food and drink items for your customers.
A very positive aspect about Burger Shop is the fact that I did not see any advertisements in the game. This could differ from device to device, or I was simply lucky enough to not see any over the course of two-three hours. Having advertisements in a free-to-play game is understandable, because the developers need to earn an income for their efforts and time. Unfortunately, it seems like many developers do not know a thing about ad placement, and really ruin their game by implementing annoying and obstructive advertisements. Thankfully, this was not the case with Burger Shop, and you can play the game without being obstructed by advertisements.
Unfortunately there are also several negative aspects about Burger Shop. For starters, players do not get the test out much of the game, without paying for it. You cannot even download the game for free on iOS devices, which means that players will have to blindly trust the reviews and pay for a mobile game, in order to be able to play it. In my opinion, this really takes away a sense of challenge in the game, because all you have to do is be quick, and serve your customers what they want. Earning more or less does not affect you at all, other than being not able to pass a level, if you have not earned enough money. I would have really liked to see an in-game store, where you could purchase all kinds of new items for your own restaurant, and become more successful by doing so.

Artwork: I give Burger Shop an 8/10 for its artwork. The graphics and animations in Burger Shop are very decent, especially considering it is a mobile game. I really like the fact that the graphics look like they are from a cartoon, yet the objects in the game seem realistic. The quality of the graphics are pretty high, which makes me believe that the developers took their time, when they were designing the graphics for Burger Shop. This is always nice to see, due to the fact that there are so many badly designed games available in the app stores. It is also very nice to see that there are many animations in the game, which makes the gameplay feel more alive. You can see if the customers are getting upset or if they are happy, and give you a large tip.
Music & SFX: I give Burger Shop a 7/10 for its music and SFX. There are several nice soundtracks and many sound effects in Burger Shop. The quality of the soundtracks and sound effects are pretty nice, and they enhance the gameplay. I like the fact that the soundtrack changes when you are at the main menu, and when you start a game. This helps players transition into “gaming” mode and is very helpful in my opinion. There are a lot of SFX in Burger Shop, which are really nice. Hearing things such as a glass of coke getting filled up, or fries getting baked, is very nice and makes you feel like you are in a real fast food restaurant. The developers did a good job in making the music and SFX fit perfectly together with the graphics of the game.
Story & Originality: I give Burger Shop an 8/10 for its story and originality. Even though there are a lot of games similar to Burger Shop, I still believe that it is original. This is due to the fact that Burger Shop has features in it, that I have not yet seen in other games. I really like the fact that the Story Mode has a linear gameplay, because you will be able to learn about the game, and how to play the game, while playing the game (if that makes sense). There is a nice little story at the beginning of the gameplay, which tells you that you have blueprints for a burger machine and you decide to build it in your garage. Once it is finished, you see its potential and you decide to invest your life savings into a fast food joint. This is your first restaurant and the story starts from this point. I think the developers did a good job including a story into the game, which really enhances the gameplay and makes the game more entertaining.
General Gameplay: I give Burger Shop an 8/10 for general gameplay. The gameplay in Burger Shop starts with a tutorial, which consists of several levels. In the tutorial, you will learn how to properly play the game, how to prepare food and drink items and how to serve your customers. Once the tutorial is over, the gameplay becomes pretty straightforward, but still very entertaining to play due to the different game modes and tons of levels. Luckily, the controls are very responsive and smooth, and the user interface fits the overall theme of the game nicely.
Addictiveness: I give Burger Shop an 8/10 for addictiveness. There are no playtime limitations in Burger Shop, which means that you can play the game whenever you want, however long you want. The only aspect that lowers the addictiveness of this game is the fact that you need to purchase the upgrade package, if you want to be able to enjoy all the features of the game. The upgrade adds a lot of new levels and other features to the game, but costs $3,99!
