Truck Driver 3D Offroad is a racing game developed by Rooster Games, a company known for other apps such as Drift Car Racing, Virtual Flight Simulator or Stunt Bike Racing 3D. Even though most of the company’s apps are available on both platforms, Truck Driver 3D Offroad is an Android exclusive. It has been downloaded for more than 20 million times and it has a rating of 3.9 out of 5. The game requires a mobile device with an Android version of at least 2.3 so it can run properly.
In Truck Driver 3D Offroad you take the role of a…well…Truck driver that has numerous sensible tasks to complete in the heart of the mountains. You will need to pay extra attention to your cargo because damaging or losing it will mean a penalty and at the same time you need to be quick because you have a determined time. It is intriguing, I must admit.
The game doesn’t require a mandatory sign-up and there is no possibility of signing-in with an existent account or a social account. This means that if you change your device or for some reason you uninstall and then reinstall the game, all the progress you’ve made is lost. An odd thing I noticed about the game is that from time to time a Google Play Services pop-up appears but it seems it doesn’t do anything (maybe a future update?).
Truck Driver 3D Offroad doesn’t have any currency or resource available besides a Score so there are no microtransactions of any sort implemented. That is a bit disappointing because the game is full of ads and the possibility of removing them with a small token of gratitude in the developers’ accounts would have been nice in my opinion.

To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised about the game because the title is a bit misleading. I most certainly didn’t expect that I was going to drive my tractor on fields and try not to spill the water from the precious barrels that I casually carry with me in my trailer. The game is not that catchy or good in my opinion but it offers a peculiar experience so you should go ahead and download it.
First of all, I like that the game surprises everyone with its complexity. You have more than 1 environment and all of them are looking decent, you have several trucks and attaching trailers, you have a day-night cycle implemented and so on. Who would have taught that an odd game such as Truck Driver 3D Offroad will have such things in it (there are a lot of things that are missing too, no worries). Secondly, I really like the fact that you can choose from 3 different ways of steering: tilting the screen, pressing buttons or….*drum roll* using a steering wheel.
That is a great idea and even though I was not a fan of it I still appreciate the fact that you can use it. In the end, I really like that the game has a dose of realism when it comes to driving on a bumpy road or something like that. The truck will not get any damage but your cargo will. You can’t rush mountain passes with full speed and expect getting to the destination alive. I respect that.
Like any game, Truck Driver 3D Offroad has its fair share of not-so-great things too. For example, I despise the fact the game doesn’t have a currency or a resource. I like to collect stuff and use that stuff to buy different other stuff. It is simple like that. I don’t mind if what I buy is purely esthetic, collectible or bring new things to the game. In addition to that, some truck upgrades would have been great. I am not talking about “NOS” or carbon fiber hoods but a few adjustments to the engine, the stability or the wheels are a great idea in my opinion.
In addition, being more user friendly would help the game because out of curiosity a lot of people would try it – reward the player with a special truck if they like Truck Driver 3D Offroad on Facebook, Twitter or whatever. People will surely come. Another thing I hate is the fact that there is no difficulty option in game. Even though I appreciate a challenging game and Truck Driver 3D Offroad surely is one of them, sometimes that’s too much. Lose the time limit or decrease the game’s difficulty.
Overall, I am not sure about Truck Driver 3D Offroad. I would recommend it because you will most likely have a grin on your face when you play the game for the first time. After that the grin will change into a straight face and the game will probably be uninstalled not long after.
Ratings
Artwork: Truck Driver 3D Offroad gets 7 out of 10 for the artwork. The theme is rather interesting and the color palette the developers used is suited. The environment doesn’t look excellent because you can still see a lot of pixels and automated rendering but there aren’t any big flaws with it. The trucks and the trailers are looking nice and I like that the graphic designer did some background research about them because they are similar with the real ones. However, there is still a lot of work to do with them as well. The animations effects are few and let’s put it this way – not the game’s best feature. They feel rather old than 3D or modern.
Music & SFX: I give Truck Driver 3D Offroad a rating of 5 out of 10 at this segment. It is undoubtedly hard to rate a game’s music quality…when the game doesn’t have any. You have the music option in settings but during the playtime there isn’t any. That is really weird but I checked and it seems that there are no songs in Truck Driver 3D Offroad. The sound effects are present but I don’t think that simulating a tractor sounds is that hard. I like the environment small noises such as birds singing and stuff but, again, that’s little compared with the non-existence of a real soundtrack.
Story/Originality: Truck Driver 3D Offroad gets 8 out of 10 at this section. If someone is curious about odd games for mobile devices, this is a good choice. It is the first…tractor simulator (that sounds funny) I had the pleasure to play and I don’t believe there are a lot of them on the market. The game fell authentic, there are no questions allowed. If you don’t agree with me I dare you to name 5 similar games without searching them on Google. It doesn’t have a story but I don’t think it really needs one even though, I was really curious about my character’s life decisions – currently he is driving a truck on narrow mountain passes – he must have an interesting story.
General Gameplay: I give the game a rating of 7 out of 10 for its gameplay. You don’t need a tutorial for it because fortunately for casual players the game feels easy to play. However, that is just an appearance so no more fortune for you guys. Truck Driver 3D Offroad is a really hard game that will make you angry. I love the idea of a challenge but some of the roads are effectively unfair. For the time I’ve played the game, I have encountered several bugs especially when it comes to the truck’s movement. There is still work to do with it. Also, from time to time, the ads seem to slow the game for a few seconds.
Addictiveness: Truck Driver 3D Offroad gets a rating of 6 out of 10 for its addictiveness. It may seem an unfair rating for such a complex game but the truth is that no matter how much are you into tractors and no matter how many environments and trucks you have at your disposal in the game, you will eventually get bored. Truck Driver 3D Offroad doesn’t have any real extra content such as daily rewards or challenges and not to mention a multiplayer implementation. The idea is funny and I respect the developers thinking but I don’t consider the game is addictive at all.
Overall, Truck Driver 3D Offroad gets a rating of 6.6 out of 10. As I mentioned before, the game is fun for a short time. After that, the player will be overwhelmed by the flaws and boringness and drop the game.
