Zombie Evil Background Info

This unique looking zombie shooter game takes you around the world in an attempt to defeat the endless armies of Dr. Evil. You will be able to experience the iconic surroundings of the USA, Europe, Asia and even Africa. No matter which continent you fight on, you will always find something familiar, something that helps you remember your goal of saving humanity: Be it the fallen hand of the Statue of Liberty or the Pyramids of Giza.

Each continent has multiple stages, with each stage including 6 levels to beat. Summing these adds up to 21 stages overall, which means 126 zombie filled levels in the game. The game also has three difficulty levels to choose from, but new players can only select Easy at first. Hard and Nightmare are there for later playthroughs, as they provide a much greater challenge and are only meant for experienced players.

The story of Zombie Evil starts in the USA, in familiar locations of New York. Be it a simple street, a car crash scene or even the wreckage of an airplane, zombies take no break in shambling around. Your job is to defend yourself from behind your blockade on each of these levels, completely destroying waves of the undead.

Shooting is done by a simple tap and hold mechanic, essentially sending bullets wherever your finger is on the screen. You can both use small bursts of taps to aim more precisely, or hold your finger for longer amounts of time to send out a rain of bullets and earn combos for extra gold. For example, if you reach 30 zombies killed with a single finger hold, that adds a bonus 20 gold to your cash.

Normal zombies in Zombie Evil usually take only a few shots to kill, but there are 21 different types that the player will come across. These include, but are not limited to: Zombie Dogs, who are much faster than normal zombies, but take just as many hits to kill. Fat Zombies, who take a lot more shots to kill and explode on death, causing damage to the player if they are nearby. Clown Zombies, who are fast moving and tough enemies and also move in high numbers. Doctor Zombies, who will teleport to the player when damaged, immediately handing out a free attack on the player.

These are just a few of the 21 types of undead found in the game. Most of the new types are usually in a style fitting to the continent the player is on currently. Examples are the Mummy Zombies in Egypt or the Police Officer Zombies in the USA stages. There are also zombie variants, which are indicated by differently tints. If a zombie is red, that means it’s faster than others, just like green means it has more health than basic ones.

The different zombie types are not your only worries though, as Dr. Evil himself will appear later on in Boss Battles, while riding different death machines like a tank, a giant scorpion robot or a spaceship.

The game also has a weapon shop and an upgrade system to help you out as stages become more and more difficult to beat. The available 17 weapons include the UZI, the M870P shotgun, the Desert Eagle, the AK-47, an RPG, Gatling Gun or even a crazy Laser Gun, among others. Most of the weapons are unlocked by spending gold, which is gained on levels by killing zombies, but some of the more powerful ones cost diamonds, a premium currency.

Upgrades come in three different types, the first being the Guard upgrades. Guards are abilities, which can be activated on levels when the meter above them is filled by killing enough zombies. Guards include the Hell’s Messenger, which drops multiple bombs on the zombies wherever you aim it, and the Ghost King, which freezes all zombies on screen for a short time. Then there is the last one, the Terminator, a true nuclear weapon.

The other two type of upgrades in Zombie Evil are the Defense and Attack upgrades, which are all passive abilities. The defensive ones increase your health and dodge chance against zombie attacks, or even allow your blockade to strike back with a counterattack when zombies hit you. Attack upgrades on the other hand increase critical hit chances, fire rate for your character, or even upgrade damage, stun and piercing caused by weapons.

Since there are a lot of customizations on the weapon and upgrade front, the game also has a Bank, where players can purchase diamonds and gold to fasten their progress. Gold can be bought in amounts of 30,000 for a sale price of $1.99. Diamonds on the other hand come in multiple packs, the cheapest being 10 diamonds for $0.99, while the most expensive is 260 diamonds for $19.99.

Of course Zombie Evil also has ways to earn diamonds and extra gold for players who don’t want to spend money on the game. There are Daily Tasks to kill a set amount of normal zombies and special zombies for a small amount of diamonds as a reward, or the offer wall, where you can download sponsored apps to gain more diamonds. Then there is the gambler’s dream, the Lucky Slot, which is a built in slots game, where you can risk your hard earned gold and diamonds for a chance to win even more.

The game also has some small, not too bothersome ads at the bottom of the menus. These always disappear when you are in more important sections of the game to not take away from the experience.

Cheats & Tips for Zombie Evil

Zombie Evil is no doubt a very challenging game, so no surprise cheats for it are a desired thing. Whether you want cheats or just tips and tricks, I can share some that will make your playthrough much easier, so pay attention!

The game has built in cheats in the form of health restoration, which can be used whenever you are in a level and low on health. It fully refills your health, while costing only 2 diamonds. Think twice before using this, as you can still win a level even if you finish it on low health. Only use this cheat when you are sure to die otherwise.

As a tip, which comes from my own mistakes is that you should try to unlock new weapons in the beginning, instead of upgrading passive abilities. Spending your hard earned gold on passive upgrades is not really beneficial, as they provide a very low chance of the bonuses activating, while if you spend that same gold on weapons, they will be much more useful against the hordes of zombies. Consider taking points in the Guard upgrades a little bit later, as they are also really useful.

While we are talking about weapons, consider that some weapons are more useful in different situations and against different enemy types. The UZI, AK-47 and similar guns are best at a range to pick off normal zombies and specials like Fat Zombies, so they don’t explode in your face. At the same time shotguns are best at close range, when you are surrounded by a lot of enemies. They are also the best against Zombie Dogs, as they move very fast and can easily overwhelm you from multiple sides.

Also consider that weapons other than your basic UMP use some of your gold everytime you shoot. Don’t worry though, as killing zombies usually pays back more than what you spent on shooting, but just bear this in mind before going on to waste bullets!

As for a last tip, don’t forget taking the rewards for the Daily Tasks everyday, as they can help your progress greatly with diamonds.

Zombie Evil Review

I’m glad to report that I finally found a zombie shooter that is actually a lot of fun, in the form of Zombie Evil. Although this game is a topdown shooter, it uses enough new mechanics to differentiate itself from the crowd and provide an unique experience.

When I first laid my eyes on the gameplay in the first USA level, I already fell in love with the art style of this game. There is something unique, yet familiar about Zombie Evil, which no doubt helped it greatly in becoming successful. All the levels are well designed with high resolution backgrounds and props around the map, just like all the zombie models.

The gameplay itself is very challenging, except for the first few levels, which can easily be beaten using the first weapon only. Later stages and levels will actually send so many zombies towards you that some of them are really hard to beat without using the health restoration option for 2 diamonds, or unlocking new and more powerful weapons to use.

I’m torn between these levels being fair or artificially hard, but I think it’s closer to the second option. Still, the design of these difficult levels and encounters is usually fun enough that giving it multiple tries just to beat them can still be worth it.

Most of the weapons I tried also feel like they have real impact, something that is often missing in shooter games on mobiles. The weapons handle especially well when they cause the zombies to explode. Using a shotgun to blow 6 or more zombies apart at the same time is very satisfying in this game, just as dropping bombs on them. Also, swapping weapons mid combat is pretty easy as well, so you are not limited to one weapon, but can equip multiple ones for each level, which is a nice thing.

One of the other new features in this game are the Guards, which can be used whenever you fill up their bar by killing zombies. These act as abilities and can be very fun to use. There were a lot of times when I was close to death, but the freeze effect on the Ghost King saved me, or I got to eliminate a huge group of zombies by the Hell’s Messenger bombs.

The game has 126 different levels, which is an enormous amount, considering the difficulty as well. It definitely can provide players with long hours of fun and challenging content.

Overall the gameplay of Zombie Evil is great fun, even while it can be an extreme challenge on some of the levels, and sometimes even requires you to use diamonds or try again multiple times. It’s definitely worth the time invested, as you can complete any level, just take your time with it, and most importantly have fun!

Ratings

Artwork: I give the artwork of Zombie Evil a 9/10. This game looks very clean and unique, with well designed levels and enemies. It’s hard to take your eyes off of the action when you play this game, as it just looks awesome!

Music & SFX: The music and SFX of the game deserves an 8/10. The music in the game’s menus is a perfect fit to make the player feel the impending doom of the zombie armies taking over the world. It’s a good motivator to fight, while the levels are packed with music full of action. The SFX is dominated by the weapon sounds, and those definitely do a very good job in making it feel powerful and have impact as they hit the zombies.

Story & Originality: Story wise the game gets an 8/10 from me. The game explains the story in small cutscenes and with characters telling you about the current situation at the start of every few levels. The game doesn’t overwhelm you with story, but it also doesn’t just throw it in as flavor, but actually makes some effort to bring it forward, which is very much appreciated.

General Gameplay: I give the general gameplay of Zombie Evil an 8/10 as well. While the difficulty can rise a lot and some levels can feel almost impossible, the gameplay itself is really enjoyable. All the different unlockable weapons and upgrades, just like the Guards make this game a lot of fun to play. Then there are the 126 levels, a lot of zombie types and the story itself, which just makes this game a winner.

Addictiveness: The addictiveness of the game gets a 7/10. This is the aspect of the game that I must rate the lowest, although I still consider it good. The only issues with the longevity of the game are the difficulty spikes. It wouldn’t be a problem on its own, but if a player runs out of diamonds and gold, they will have a very hard time continuing the game. If they don’t feel like replaying some of the easier levels for a small amount of gold, progress can be slow and tiresome. Otherwise, if the pace of the game can be kept, it’s a lot of joy to play.

Overall Score: 8/10.
