In summary, Epic Devs's
Epic Pirates Story wasn't as good as we were hoping it would be.
It looks great, but it lacks the variety required to keep us playing for very long.
Despite its simplicity, however, you may still be finding yourself a little lost regarding what to do next in the game.
Or perhaps the going is too tough for you on the high seas?
In this situation, then, I'd guess that a comprehensive guide to
Epic Pirates Story - complete with loads of hints and tips - would be pretty useful, huh?
Huh?!
If only such a thing existed...
Village businessAlthough the way that you position your buildings may not appear to have a huge effect on your pirates, there are ways in which you can boost your filibusters' stats through clever methods.
The best layout to go for is this: erect your buildings and house along the roadside, with amenities lined up behind them, lending them each boosted stats.
Note that all amenities yield the same type of stat boost, so there's no need for variety - just keep building the type that grants you the biggest boost over and over again, all in a row. To begin with, by the way, the totem is your best option.
When it comes to the actual buildings, note that having one of each actually isn't always your best option, for your pirates will randomly choose to go into any building you currently own.
If you're looking to boost a particular stat - for example, the sailing speed - make sure you destroy all the other building types, and only own the one that actually yields the stat boost you need. That way your buccaneers will gain that stat super quickly.
Quest timeWhen selecting your next quest, note that each one is accompanied by a coloured medallion. That colour denotes how difficult the quest will be.
A green medallion, for instance, signifies that you'll be able to win very easily, while red quests will more often than not destroy you.
The best thing to do is to simply not bother with red quests, and only plump for other-coloured quests. This means you'll win nine times out of ten, and maximize your time efficiency.
And when choosing how many pirates to take on a quest, remember that each one you take costs extra cash, but you'll bring back the same haul of treasure regardless.
Therefore, if you find that you're winning 100 percent of the time with a full crew, consider leaving one space free to minimize the amount you're spending.
Stats, stats, statsWhile you can upgrade your character stats by simply allowing your charges to march around town and use the facilities, you can also just hand them weapons and armour.
There's not really a decent way to find out which weapons are better than others, so the only real way to upgrade your guys is to touch a specific weapon or armour type, then scroll through the ones you have available and see which have the greatest advantages.
Note that you can also choose to hold "events" that give each of your guys boosted stats. You'll need a large portion of cash for these events.
However, it's usually not worth holding these events, since the amount of money each event costs is not commensurate with the advantage you gain afterwards.
Plus, you'll suddenly find that you don't have enough cash to go on simple quests any more, and that instead you have to sit and wait while your guys spend money in the tavern.
