Oceanhorn: Monster Of Uncharted Seas is a top down action adventure title not too different from the Legend Of Zelda series. Our silent hero will have to explore the world of the game on his quest, explore islands and dungeons, find useful items and defeat the many enemies he will encounter.
Oceanhorn is not a really hard game but things may become challenging down the line, especially if you have never played a game like this. This is why we will give you a hand by covering some small but useful tips that will help you and make you enjoy this wonderful adventure more than before.
Just like in a role playing game, you will be able to gather experience point during the course of the game and improve your stats. Once you defeat an enemy or complete a challenge, you will earn blue diamonds worth different amounts of EXP points. Once you have collected enough, you will level up. In order to actually obtain the level up bonuses, you will have to tap the Level Up! sign on the minimap.
As strange as it may sound, sometimes it’s a good idea to wait before tapping the sign, especially if you’re having a hard time during a battle and your health is running low. Claiming your Level Up rewards will also heal you completely! If you have no other way to heal inside a dungeon doing this is surely going to save you more than once.
Challenges are another way to get some precious EXP points. Most of them are pretty self-explanatory and not too hard to complete. What some players may have not noticed is that all challenges are specific to single islands. Completing a challenge of an island while adventuring on another is not going to complete the challenge so take this into account when trying to complete one.
Oceanhorn is filled with puzzles to complete inside dungeons. Sometime you will have to move around crates or other objects that can get stuck, forcing you to find a way to reset the puzzle. Instead of heading out of a dungeon, which is incresdibly time consuming, you can use the reset button, which should be located near the puzzle. Some of the buttons aren’t located in plain sight so you may have to search around.
The Mini map found in the upper right corner of the screen is a really useful adventuring tool. Along all the other icons you will also notice Treasure Chests icons, which show where a chest is located. Sometimes you may reach the location of the icon but no treasure chests. When this happens, you probably have to make the chest appear by completing a nearby puzzle.
All adventurers love exploring. Luckily Oceanhorn offers plenty of chances to do so. You should note, however, that in most cases you will not be able to fully explore the islands as soon as you get on them. Some of the areas will require some items to explore, items that can only be found by continuing the game. Once you have obtained all the items, you can go back to each island and uncover all its secret. Starting exploring when the game is almost complete is probably the best moment to do so, since you will have the items required to open all areas.
