It was pretty obvious from my Be a Legend: Football review that I had a great time playing the game and I think that the several hours I spent playing the game taught me a lot of tricks that I can share with you in this article, to help your recently created football player become a real legend. So if you need help or if you simply want to compare your strategy to that of a generally-successful player, read my Be a Legend: Football tips, tricks and cheats!
- Set your priorities first
As you probably know already, there are two elements of the game: the matches that you can play using tickets and shields (if you go for the League games) and the works that you can perform in the Career menu where you need energy. Both tickets and energy replenish every 10 minutes, so a good idea would be to play the challenges first and then jump to the works, as you will have higher chances of getting an extra ticket by the time you’re done with your career.
- Stay away from league games!
It’s a good idea to focus on completing works and playing in challenges vs. other players of similar levels until you build up your character and build him up good. The league players you will face, even in the second league where I am standing now with Torquay U, are still a lot better than yourself and you’ll manage to get draws as the best case scenario. So don’t rush things, complete challenges, complete works, level up, get better and only then tackle the league!
- Repair your items
It’s not particularly specified in the game, but your gear does wear out and you have two options: buy new equipment which is expensive or repair what you have, which is cheaper. Make sure to check out the equipment of your player every couple of matches and repair what’s been broken, otherwise you won’t get the bonuses anymore.
- Focus on specific skills
Although you’d probably like to be a great all-around player, it’s a better idea to invest your skill points in a few areas first and make sure you rock there. My character is a striker and therefore I have invested a ton of points in Attack (red), Technique (green) and Speed (Blue), in this order. It’s always a good idea to have a killer skill that will bring you 100% guaranteed success rate if you can trigger it, and a couple of good ones as a back-up. There will be moments when you will only have the option to use one of the undeveloped skills, but generally you’ll do just fine if you follow the route I suggested.
- What action to choose?
If you’re having trouble succeeding on the pitch, it’s probably because you choose the wrong action. It doesn’t really matter what the text says, you should look only at the colors near the options and choose the color or combination that uses your best skill(s), therefore giving you the best chance of succeeding.
Remember that in each game you are pitted against a single player, so if you choose your best skill (red, let’s say) and you always fail it means that the player you are playing against has a better value there, so you should switch to the other color because if you lose a red challenge (or any color) once, you will always lose it in the same game!
- Invest in property and equipment
Don’t forget that you can get huge bonuses in terms of skill points from property and equipment. These are indeed extremely expensive, but they’re worth the money. Just make sure that you have a strategy when you purchase them: either buy items that increase your power skills even more, or invest in artificially upgrading the lower skills, which I don’t really think is a good idea.
- Complete missions
They usually get completed automatically by simply playing the game, but it’s a good idea to keep an eye on your missions and make sure that you keep getting them done for the extra rewards.
- Pick up your equipment and make sure you wear it!
There are many instances in which you will get new equipment bits (like completing cities in the Career tour). Make sure that you actually go and wear those items if they are better than what you have. Also, if you create your own equipment using materials, make sure that you go to the create menu first to get your equipment and then wear it.
- Get fans
By adding codes from people playing the game, you get access to amazing rewards (for 5, 10, 25 and 100 fans) so it’s worth adding all the codes you can find. We’ll set up an “add me page” here on Android Entity soon!
And this would be it. A smart choice from the options menu, combined with a smart choice of things to do in the game result in a great Be a Legend: Football strategy and I really hope that you find my tips and tricks useful. If you have extra to add, please do so by commenting below.
