Magic River: Tips, Tricks, Cheats, How To Beat, and Strategy Guide

Magic River is a new endless game for the iOS and Android platforms by Ketchapp and, as far as we know, is their first 3D game for the mobile platforms. It’s a very simple game. Your goal is to go down the river as far as you can without crashing to make a good score, while collecting gems and unlocking new characters. Read on for some tips and tricks for Magic River!

Right now you can collect gems, but they really don’t do anything for you; however, after the first update to the game, expect the developers to add something that you can buy with them e.g. more new characters. So for now, keep on collecting gems and hoard them until the update comes, and you’ll be all set by the time it does come.

Be sure to look far ahead of where you are so that you can know when to hit the screen next. Tapping the screen changes your direction, a la Swing Copters, and if you tap at the right time, you’ll careen right into the rocks or some other obstacle and crash.

Missions are the way to unlock new characters right now. New characters have the same performance as your old characters, they just change the appearance. Always be sure to check the mission menu to see what the current one is. One mission will show up at a time, so next time that you complete one, check the menu again to see what the mission that follows that one is.

Right at the beginning of the level, if you don’t tap the screen at all, you’ll be going straight instead of right or left. Keep going straight for as long as possible – this can be a fairly easy way to get 5-10 free points depending on how many rocks are in your way when you start off your current run. Sometimes you’ll only be able to get 2 or 3 points before a rock forces you to turn.

Try playing with two thumbs instead of one. When you are going left, tap with your right thumb to go to the right. When you are going right, tap with your left thumb to move to the left. While it’s obviously not required to do it this way, it can be a good way to trick your brain, to do what seems a little more natural, and thus to have better control of your boat to get higher scores.
