Additionally, it’s interesting to note that game studio Superweapon consists of “a small team of veteran Command & Conquer developers.” And right now, it’s solely an iOS exclusive – we’re not sure if it’s going to ever be released for Android.
To sum up everything above in one short sentence, Dawn of Steel is a lot like Clash of Clans, only with mechs, which is the term the game uses for robots. But it’s more than just that, and the following Dawn of Steel tips and tricks could help you get settled in if you’re new, or help you move forward if you’ve been playing for a while and got stuck somewhere.
This firs tip is as simple as you can get, but an important one if you want to save some time strategizing. If you want to select all the mechs in a group to perform an action, all you’ve got to do is double-tap on one of them, then perform the action.
In Dawn of Steel, line of sight is arguably one of the most important things you have to consider when formulating your strategy. There are defensive units that can’t shoot over walls, but others are able to do that. You should know which enemy defensive structures are capable of attacking you from the other side. But how do you go about this?
One good and simple suggestion would be to take a peek at the enemy base, but to make sure you find a building or a wall that’s not too far from their defenses and target them with your mech’s rockets. Allow a couple of minutes to launch those rockets over the enemy wall to destroy their defensive units, then move in for the kill now that they’re vulnerable.
Of course, you should also take mental notes of where the enemy had messed up and allowed you to make a move on them. Take note of their mistakes and be sure you don’t make them when designing your base. With the above example, you should set up turrets in such a way that the view isn’t blocked off too much, and place defenses that can shoot over buildings and walls near the center of your base. That makes them harder for enemies to destroy, while letting your defenses attack them in turn.
Also keep in mind that different opponents have different strategies, and different base configurations. Don’t assume that all of your opponents will have their bases and defenses set up in a similar, if not identical way to each other.
For the next two tips, we will be reminding you of the importance of taking good care of your mechs. First, when playing the game, you should always make it a point to upgrade your mechs regularly. With upgrades come new slots for weapons, and of course, new weapons and abilities. This makes your mechs more effective and powerful, posing a more formidable threat to your enemies. But there’s more to upgrading your mechs than simply opening up slots or allowing you to buy better guns.
You can also loot weapons when raiding enemy bases, but what good would these weapons be if you cannot equip them? That’s another reason why upgrading is very, very important – you don’t want a powerful new weapon to stay on the proverbial bench for long after you’ve acquired it, because that weapon could be the game-changer in upcoming battles.
So you’re planning to shut down for the day after a long and hard Dawn of Steel session. That’s well and good, as you may need to take care of some things or go to bed. But you should make it a point to do your maintenance before exiting the game – repair your mechs first, even if the damage is minor. You want to make the most of your time away from the game, after all, and it’s definitely no fun to wake up in the morning, open the game, and find out that your mechs are in less than battle-worthy condition.
As a bonus tip, there are small green orbs that occasionally fall out of destroyed buildings. While playing the game, you can have an injured mech take one of those orbs for some quick, on-the-spot healing.
This is probably a consistent mechanic across most games of this type, where there’s a base-building element involved. In the early goings, resources will be more important than your defenses. That makes it imperative to upgrade your resource buildings before all other structures. Upgrading your resource-producing buildings will allow you to quickly upgrade all the others, so stick to the fundamentals when early.
Suppose you’ve chosen an ability but realize, just right after you choose it, that it’s the wrong one after all. The good thing is that you can undo that action by tapping on the ability to quickly cancel the action. No harm done, and you can go ahead and select the ability you were supposed to choose in the first place.
Worried about those annoying little enemy drones? There is a way around them, and that’s to use your rocket mech’s rockets. Before you know it, you’ll be able to control those small but terrible drones and proceed with your action plan like you should.
