My team fortress 2 launches and goes on the loading screen then freezes and you get this error message Could not connect hdl dll What should i do

Go to my games tab in steam
right click on Tf2 and go to properties
Go to the local files tab
click on 'Verify integrity of game cache'
and after that it will update
