What happens when you are mayor on Animal Crossing

I dont accually no what happens but i do know how to become mayor:

you have to have all the golden equitments
and a perfect town
then the mayor will send you a letter when you have all of that, telling you, He is leaving.
then you go to the town hall, an pelly will tell you That you became Mayor of...
(Your Town)

But i think when you are mayor you can do what ever you like. :) this is wrong the moyor stays moyor in your town. and every town ha she same mayor . HANDING TIP at the acorn festival cornamor is tortamor.
