Does aerith love Zack

That it is a very poor 'final nail.' The book is a great resource as all stories were written by Kazushige Nojima, Square-Enix's official screenplay writer for several of the Final Fantasy Games including VII…except "Maiden Who Travels the Planet" which was written by a non-SE-staff member namely Benny Matsuyama. "Maiden who travels the planet" is further more deliberately excluded on official Square-Enix listings, where even the non-canon Last Order is included. In other words, they do not approve it as canon and it seems they do not even want to be associated with it anymore. It appears it was more for entertainment purposes and to appease fans of the Cloud x Aerith couple. When applying common logic it does not make sense to have a largely unsupervised short story (as admitted by Matsuyama himself on his blog) with quite some continuity errors and even rather OOC writing (obviously conflicting Nojima's on both accounts) take precedence over the game Crisis Core which is obviously of much heavier caliber in the argument.
In Crisis Core it is stated quite obviously Aerith truly was attracted to, and later loved Zack.
- She comments on how beautiful his eyes are, and blushes like a schoolgirl when he gets close to her to 'have her let a look'
- Zack buys her a pink ribbon. She promises she'll wear it for the rest of her life, and she has.
- She says she has 23 wishes, but she can all sum them up into 1: To be with Zack more often.
- When Zack goes missing she writes him 89 letters over a period of 4 years.
- She also starts wearing pink, a silly request Zack made. She wore pink years after Zack's disappearance hoping he would find his way back to her, and has always worn it since.
It is safe to say it is proven that Aerith loved Zack, and that Nojima wanted us to know about it.
Though I have no doubt Aerith loved Cloud it is another matter altogether if she ever loved him romantically.

Yes. Aerith does love zack. Alot of people say Cloud was the one she loved because of Maiden that travels that planet. But that's not canon.

Aerith loves Zack. The Maiden who travels the planet is not canon. Square Enix approved its publishing, but the material contradicted various plot points in the games and was not written by Square Enix. It is just a fanfiction that many people quote and use as fact. But the events in the story didn't really happen since it is not canon.


Aerith fell in love with Zack and stayed in love with him until her death. She lied to Cloud about her and Zack's relationship not being serious since Crisis Core proved that it was. She also dated Zack for a year or more whereas she only know Cloud for a month or so. She wrote Zack 89 love letters over the course of four years with no word from him since he was being experimented on by Hojo. She wears pink since Zack once joked with her about it and she continues to wear the pink bow he bought her in FF VII. She mentions him a lot in FF VII and is attracted to Cloud because of his similarities with Zack.


When she returns to the lifestream, she is reunited with Zack. The two are seen together in Advent Children. Though it is not a romantic scene and is focused more on the forgiveness of Cloud, the viewer can plainly see that Zack and Aerith are together again.

I don't care about the Maiden who travel the planet stuff, but i think Aerith did love Zack, then late on loved Cloud. She does admit to Zack and her relationship later in Final Fantasy 7 game, when the party go to Gongaga and Aerit find out that Zack was from Gongaga. From then Aerith tells Cloud the WAS her first love. But later when she dies and meets Zack again, he perpressures Aerith in choosing who she preferse, making Aerith choose Zack as it would affect her sex life for along time if she chose Cloud. But to me i think it's Cloud and Aerith all the way. As Cloud eventfully spend more time with her.
