What are some games similar to Guild Wars 2 but are free to play

Technically, Guild Wars 2 is considered an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game), but it's really the first MMO of it's kind. GW2 has introduced so many new features and new ways of thinking, that there really isn't another game on the market right now that's very similar to it.

Guild Wars 2 is actually a free-to-play game, since it does not have any monthly subscription fees. You just have to purchase the game once, and you are set for life. You can come back six years from now, and still be able to play it. The only way you can spend more money on the game is if you choose to purchase "gems" for microtransactions with real money - which is completely optional, and you can buy gems in the game with in-game coin.
