Why is team fortress 2 free

Team Fortress 2 became free so more people will play it there for having more items bought in the store and them valve will make more money so if it didn't become f2p valve would go out of business

There are limitations, like being
able to trade, but this can be fixed by making a purchase from the Steam store for as little as 1.45.
